Kid Cudi Jumps To #1, My Chemical Romance Returns

This is an unexpected turn, and not because Kid Cudi is stranger to begin at the top of The Chart as he has previously scored two number ones with Heart of A Lion (3 weeks) and Hyyer (1 week), but because of how fast he got there and how he left the competition behind. Previous chart-topper The Show Goes On by Lupe Fiasco steps to No. 2. The song had been making strong rounds for the past month but falls short to this week's surprising No. 1, Ashin' Kusher, the third from Kid Cudi and the first from his new album Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager.

Further down the chart there's a few recoveries like Marina & the Diamonds who jumps back up to No. 5 with Shampain and Interpol returns to the Top 10 with Try It On making it all the way to No. 3. Cee Lo Green scores his first Top 10 with Bright Lights Bigger City landing at No. 8.

Interpol at Verizon Wireless Theatre on 29 October.

Fri 29 Oct – Interpol, White Rabbits

So I showed up a bit late, and forgot that shows at Verizon Wireless actually begin at the time listed. That's a bit of an odd thing for me to get used to; since I usually show up at venues and wait about an hour for bands to finish getting set up and everything. Anyway, as a result of that, I missed the majority of White Rabbits's set. It's a shame too, because the last couple of songs I got to hear sounded really good. I'm not really familiar with the band, but I'll definitely check them out now that I've seen them. Anyway, Interpol took the stage about 40 minutes after White Rabbits finished up, opening their set with album opener Success. It's an okay song, but was ultimately the weakest in their lineup that evening. Much to my chagrin, the band stuck mostly to material from their first two albums, and played only (what I consider to be) the best tracks from their most recent self titled album. …

Kings Of Leon Take Over with 'Radioactive'

It was a great run at the top for Katy Perry - and not a bad run at all considering it's her first chart-topper - but things change this week as Teenage Dream falls to No. 3 and Tennessee rockers Kings of Leon find their way to the summit with Radioactive. This is already the band's third No. 1 on my chart with Closer (2 weeks at #1, 73 weeks on the chart) and Notion (2 weeks at #1, 31 weeks on the chart) being the first two. Both songs are included in their previous album, Only By The Night.

In between stands Magic by B.O.B featuring Rivers Cuomo which surprisingly reaches No. 2 after only four weeks on the chart. It would have potential to reach the top but right now Radioactive's lead doesn't seem easy to beat. More movement in the top 10 by Flo Rida and David Guetta as Club Can't Handle Me reaches a new peak (No. 4) and Interpol see another track enter with Try It On (No. 7) becoming this week Greatest Gainer track.

Katy Perry's Lucky 7

This year's favorite girl is not only getting married this weekend! Katy Perry now owns 2010's longest-running #1 song on the chart as Teenage Dream remains steady at the top for a 7th non-consecutive week. I know there's still a few weeks left till '10 is over, but the chances of another song topping this one are slim. If you like facts, the only other song to have stayed at #1 for 7 weeks was Shadowplay by The Killers.

But is this Katy's last week at the summit? It may be, given Kings of Leon's fast approach to the #2 position with Radioactive, which is the greatest gainer song for a second consecutive week. It only helps that their new album, Come Around Sundown, has just been released. Eight other tracks from that album enter the chart this week with The End leading at #68.

Brandon Flowers gets the biggest jump of the week with Only the Young moving up thirty places to #65. …

Interpol - "Interpol" [recenzja]

Najpierw się wyżalę. Po pierwsze - okładka jest... No właśnie - jest. Okładka jest. Tyle można o niej powiedzieć. A potem odłożyć na półkę i zbyt często nie patrzeć. Po drugie - pomysł, aby czwarty album w dorobku zespołu był self-titled, wydaje się nie tyle dziwaczny, co po prostu niezrozumiały. Ale to przecież Interpol, zespół trochę ekstrawagancki, trochę surrealistyczny, w każdym razie pokręcony w swój własny, interpolowy sposób. Po trzecie - odszedł Carlos Dengler, basista i klawiszowiec, persona zdecydowanie nieprzeciętna. Fani płaczą i tęsknią - tęsknią za jego post-punkową fryzurą i za jego obecnością na scenie podczas rozpoczętej już trasy. Za brzmieniem jego basu nie mają na razie powodu tęsknić, bo wspólnie z kolegami dokończył nagrywanie albumu. Ale i tak szkoda.

Drugi akapit - wiem, że powinnam już wspomnieć o inspiracjach Joy Division, ale... Nie zrobię tego. Mamy rok 2010, czasy Precipitate dawno minęły. Paul śpiewa teraz inaczej…
