Segundo uma fábula contada no álbum The Nostalgia Factory, um dos primeiros trabalhos criados pelo Porcupine Tree, o Incredible Expanding Mindfuck foi criado em 1973 por Solomon St Jemain que também é suposto guitarrista e vocalista convidado para o Nostalgia Factory. Mas deixando a fábula de lado, o Incredible Expanding Mindfuck é um projeto do Steven Wilson da banda Porcupine Tree, um lugar onde ele se sente livre para criar e experimentar com influencias de estilos como Kosmische Rock/Jazz, Noise, Psychedelic e Ambient.

This is some of the obscurest SW material. Isn't everything I.E.M. out of print already? I found a copy of 1996-99 at a used cd store in the weirdest and greatest coincidence of my life.
