Fev 23 2006, 22h23 por ltj515Man, I am a sucker for music lists. In the spirit of continuing the musical dialogue, I present my own version of the best 25 songs of the last year.
25. The Metal West
I don't really know what to say about this song. It's got acoustic guitar, it's got some harmonica action, it's got feedback. It's good.
24. The Beast and Dragon, Adored
It's really hard not to like Spoon. They're fun to listen to and this is the best track off their newest release.
23.Dear Sons and Daughters of Hungry Ghosts
Another fun song. Wolf Parade is an interesting band to listen to. Their songs have a lot going on at one time, this is no exception. This song's a good example of a great album.
22. So Cynical
Immaculate Machine is good at indie pop. So good in fact that their songs don't have to really sound like indie pop. "So Cynical" is a plodding, building anthem that features the wonderful harmony that pervades Ones and Zeros. More from these guys later.

The Mountain Goats's John Darnielle writes maturity surprisingly well in The Sunset Tree, and this song, named after a pain killing narcotic, works its cello instrumentation brilliantly with lyrics like All the chickens come on home to roost
Plump bodies blotting out the sky
You know it breaks my heart in half, in half
When I see them trying to see them fly
Tapes 'n Tapes are too good for places where you can find out about them, like Amazon.com or pitchforkmedia. This track is just one of the reasons why The Loon is one of my favorite finds of 2005.
23. Gimmie Some Salt
Oh, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. This too-cool-for-school track from their debut album showcases how articulation is overrated these days.
22. Broken Ship
We are sailing on a broken ship
and only one of us can survive.
I don't wanna go, I don't wanna go
Dez 17 2005, 17h09 por InCaraGenerally 2005 has been an amazing year for my musical development. Not necessarily concerning that which was released in '05, but that which I discovered. My favourite finds of the year are as follows:
Antony and the Johnsons - I Am a Bird Now
Such a beautiful, aching album. Imagine a modernday transgender Nina Simone, and you're coming close to understanding this awesome album. Fav track :Fistful of Love
Bang Gang- Something Wrong
Iceland have already given me one of my favourite bands of all time, but we'll get to them in a little while, for now, this trip hop icelandic outfit are pretty great. Fav Track : In the Morning
Broken Social Scene - You Forgot It In People and Broken Social Scene
Have developed a new found respect for Canada, BSS taking more than their fair share of responsibility. Still can't decide which of the albums is my favourite...though I think I may be leaning towards their most recent. Fav Tracks ::Shampoo Suicide and :Bandwitch.
