• ...and now for something seriously completely different

random lost souls have asked me:
    "what's the future of rock'n'roll?"
I said: "I don't know, does it matter?"
this and that scene, they sound all the same to me
neither much worse nor much better

mame uzaverky, takze abych se nerozptylovala singalongama, posloucham fire.fm radio, mixtejpy a ruzny desky, ktery na blind stahuju na ruznejch oblibenejch blozich, kam normalne nechodim, protoze mi z toho jebe. u Dimitriho (Dimitri's Mixtapes) jsem nasla asi trilion ruznejch divnejch mixek, ze kterejch jsem si odnesla zatim akorat chlapka jmenem Paul Cary, docela pekny lo-fi rockabilly, coz moji "uspesnost" dostalo na kurz cca 1:273 456 392 382. jinak je Dimitri i vtipnej:

I don't usually like pop music. It usually annoys the fuck out of me. There is some incredibly terrible shit thats on the airwaves these days. It makes me wanna break break break, break break break somebody's face when I hear shit like the song you just heard in your head or fucking Train. …

    1. Pete MolinariA Virtual Landslide

Fastna inte vid inledande “Blonde on Blonde»-pastischen “It Came Out Of The Wilderness«.
  • I See the everybodyfields Hawks in L.A.

    Fev 8 2008, 3h18 por underwds

Wed 6 Feb – the everybodyfields, I See Hawks in L.A.

I See Hawks in L.A. was the opening act. The crowd was still trickling in but the band took the stage and unleashed a lot of energy performing their brand of country rock that would have made The Eagles or The Flying Burrito Brothers proud even in their prime. Slash From Guns 'n' Roses was definitely the crowd favorite with plenty of appreciative hoots and hollers for no more people than were there.

the everybodyfields followed with a solid, but perhaps less inspiring set. Their pedal steel guitar player added a nice layer of complexity that's less obvious on the recorded material of theirs I've heard. The biggest problem for such an intimate band as this is the venue. The Independent's cavernous ceiling keeps anyone from projecting that personal connection that's so much a part of many acoustic band's repertoire. All in all, though, a good evening of live music.

HI! It's 'H' n 'I' time, a hot time in the old town tonight time of July. Highlights:

I've been enjoying Halden Wofford & The Hi-Beams' new album, Midnight Rodeo. The cover art is a bit bizarre, but it's just great down-home western-swing honky-tonkin' from the boys from Denver. REAL Country Music from REAL country gentlemen. If you like Hank Williams, Buddy Holly, or Bob Wills, take a listen to the Hi-Beams.
Venturing a bit further afield this summer, they've been up north to Montana, and hitting the East Cost this summer. Playing New York City 9-10 August 06; Cambridge, Mass 12th August, Stony Hill, NY 13th August. Yee haw, baby.

The Cornell Hurd Band are Austin favorites of the 3rd Coast REAL Country crowd. Not only do they play some good old western-swing honky tonkin', but their down home CD productions feature rare treats from artists such as Justin Trevino and Marti Brom. Take a night out at Jovita's and drink a long tall cool one with the Boys in the Cornell Hurd Band.
