After going to a concert last night, I've kinda got concerts on the mind! I figured I'd start a list of the bands I've seen live so I can remember them, as I've already forgotten names of some of them! And where better to post such a list than last.fm? ;) Now keep in mind that I live in Billings, MT, so we don't exactly get a ton of large shows. And I've sadly missed quite a few that I've wanted to go to in the past six years I've been here due to classes, work, not having anyone to go with, whatever - but I'm trying to change that trend!
Projekt Revolution -
Linkin Park with
Mudvayne,
Xzibit, and
Blindside, at Metra Park Arena in Billings, spring 2003. LP, Mudvayne, and Blindside were awesome; not such a huge fan of Xzibit, but it was still enjoyable. Definitely a good first concert!
Papa Roach with
Saliva and
Skindred (I've since forgotten the name of the opening act - we weren't big fans, so we went downstairs to drink!), at the Shrine Auditorium in Billings, spring 2004 (I think?). The Shrine is an interesting place for concerts, as it is just a gym with a stage on one side... However, its small size is pretty cool, as you're bound to be close to the stage if you're down on the floor. Was mainly interested in seeing Skindred, however all three bands had great sets and really got the crowd going. Was definitely a better alternative than writing papers for midterms! ;)
Seether with
Crossfade and
Dark New Day, at the Metra Park arena in Billings, August 2005. Thoroughly enjoyed all three bands.
Chevelle with
Taproot (and an opening band I've since forgotten) at the Valley Ice Garden in Bozeman, fall 2005. Definitely one of the best shows I've seen. The frontman of Taproot was down in the pit or climbing up into the stands for most of their set. Chevelle was just plain high energy with a great light show that added to it.
Hypnogaja with various local bands, at the F.O.E. in Billings, May 2007. Hypnogaja is a band an ex-bf got me into, and we were eagerly awaiting their show. The local bands all did well, but I was far more busy getting drunk (it was, after all, Cinco de Mayo). Hypnogaja put on a good show, the pit was crazy (and details are all fuzzy due to the amount of alcohol consumed!). Hope to catch Hypnogaja here in Billings again.
Aroarah with various local bands, at the F.O.E. in Billings, June 2007. A friend and I wanted something to do, so we decided to hit up a local show. The local bands were great and the energy was high, which peaked when Aroarah got on stage. Wish I'd have caught Aroarah this past weekend, but I was out of town...
Queens of the Stone Age with
Gasoline Angels at the Shrine Auditorium in Billings, July 2007. Hot as hell outside, way hotter inside... Gasoline Angels had a good, but short set, which I spent most of in line to get drinks to cool down. Queens of the Stone Age put on an amazing show; the energy was really high, and they had a great light show to add to it. The crowd was crazy, and just went insane for the final two songs. One of the best shows I've seen; my brother could only say "fuck, that was awesome!" afterwards.
Papa Roach (with Saliva, whom I missed due to driving back to town hungover) at the Metra Park arena in Billings, August 2007. I'm really glad my friend convinced me to get my hungover ass down to the Metra, even if I did wind up missing Saliva. I caught most of Papa Roach's set, though I was wandering around, texting my friend for several songs, trying to find him so I wouldn't look like such a loser by myself, ha. We finally found each other and shoved our way to the middle of the pit. As I was hungover, I didn't want to go any further, so I held my friend's stuff while he crowd surfed and moshed. I'd forgotten how good Papa Roach is live.
Now I'm eagerly waiting for the next show I can hit! Come on bands, come play in Billings! :D
