@vincentlillis - Unfair comparison. One can sing (albeit sometimes with unintelligble lyrics), the other plainly can't. Also, it wan't rough or missing notes - it was the whiny, faux-american, drawn out, repetitive style that killed them for me. You weren't being pissy, btw...

@electronicafan it's all relitive, I think his voice suited the music. Not to get pissy, but looking at your top artists, as someone with the Manic Street Preachers in their list, you can't really say much about the quality of someones singing voice, when the Manics sound like someone jumping off a building without stabilizers. To you this sounds great, to me, I'll stick with rough and missing notes, atleast it's falling with style.

tbh its not how well you can sing or play the guitar, its how emotive the music is. I like his voice i think it adds to the emotion of the songs. Fans of this singing style should check out anti folk such as jeffrey lewis or dufus.

So - they're not Coldplay. Can't argue with that statement, but only because it's obvious & inane. People have different opinions - mine is that he is a terrible singer who 'took away' from a really promising & capable band. Comparing them to a popular (though widely despised) band purely because they have a singer who does actually sing wasn't really the strongest 'argument', if you want to call it that.
