1. How did you get into 31?
Magnolia Electric Co.
It wasn't until 2007 when the band released Sojourner. I had liked some of what I'd heard from
Songs:Ohia and thought I'd give this a shot too. Despite liking
Sojourner pretty well, I still haven't dug much into their back catalog.

Probably
chelsea hotel. Or
Hallelujah - though I don't know if it was his version or not.

Gino Washington
"
Around the Town"
9. What is your favourite song by 5?

The Mountain Goats
Eh, not really but I guess I like singing along to "

Otis Redding
Now THAT'S a tough one. Fuck it. Three way tie. :P
I've Been Loving You Too Long,
Pain In My Heart,
These Arms Of Mine
13. What is a good memory you have involving 33?
Sunburned Hand of the Man
Well unfortunately most of the time when I'm listening to music I'm sitting at the computer or on the couch, and since SHOTM isn't really party music or dance music or anything like that, there's not really some awesome memory involving them besides hearing "
Earth Do Eagles Do" and thinking, "wow this fucking rocks!".
14. What is your favourite song by 37?
Oblivians
Bad Man. There's a bunch of other great ones I'm probably forgetting, but that one is the first that comes to mind.

Well despite the only reason he's even that high on my list is because of Retta, I still really like his solo version of "
Black Eye".
16. How many times have you seen 21 live?
Bloodshot Bill
Zero of course. I've only been to like 3 concerts ever and that crazy bastard was not one of them. I'm sure he puts on one hell of a show though, and if for some reason I ever make it up to Canada maybe I can.
17. What is the first song you ever heard by 23?

Words - it's the first song on

See number 16. Pretty much word for word, except that Biram isn't in Canada, but rather Texas.
21. What is a good memory involving 45?
Amanaz
They only ever released one album as far as I know and I didn't know anything about them until Shadoks reissued "
Africa" earlier this year, but the first time I heard "
Khala My Friend" I was floored. It's times like that that I realize how much I love discovering new music.

Another easy one. "
Think She Knows Me Now". First heard it on a mix and it's become one of my favorite songs ever since.

Elizabeth Cotten
Folksongs & Instrumentals with Guitar. Such a great album too!

Oh boy!
cry on my shoulder is a killer and I also get the simple phrase
Yukkum Yukkum stuck in my head all the time.
26. What is the first song you ever heard by 38?
Low
Not entirely sure. It might be
Dinosaur Act - which is a title was I was vaguely familiar with before hearing it, but it could very well be the opener to the same album -
Sunflower.
27. What is your favourite lyric by 3?
Wilco. F that since it really shouldn't be there to begin with. I'll take the next one in line:
Sam Cooke
"Oh there been times that I thought I couldn't last for long
But now I think I'm able to carry on
It's been a long, a long time coming
But I know a change gonna come, oh yes it will"
28. What is your favourite song by 2?
Michael Hurley
Sweedeedee - hands down.
Cat Power's version of it is how I was introduced to Hurley in originally, but even still I love that song to no end. Very very very close runner up would be
Slurf Song.
29. What was the first song you ever heard by 32?

Probably something from tv or whatever like
Your Lucky Day In Hell or
Novocaine For The Soul, though I didn't really get into listening to them until around the time Soul Jacker came out.
30. What is your favourite song by 8?
Charlie Feathers
Honky Tonk Kind - a slobberin' sappy country song about lost love from Charlie fuckin' Feathers (not that he didn't sing TONS of song about similar subject matter, its just that this one in particular I really enjoy)!
31. How many times have you seen 17 live?
The Flying Burrito Brothers
Well seeing as
Gram Parsons died nearly 10 years before I was born, that would be zero.
32. Is there a song by 44 that makes you happy?

Fakebook and songs like
Griselda,
Here Comes My Baby and
Emulsified will get me cheery in no time!

Misfits
Just pick a song from
American Psycho or
Famous Monsters. There's a whole slew of 'em there.
35. What was the first song you ever heard by 46?
Larry Williams
Bony maronie for sure. I was probably less than 10 or something and probably heard it on a movie more than likely.
36. What is you favourite album by 42?
The Mummies
Never Been Caught. For Sure. In my top 5 favorite Garage Rock albums.
37. How many times have you seen 39 live?
Junkpile Jimmy
Same as then answer to Bloodshot Bill & Scott H. Biram. It's funny how I keep getting asked this about garage-y blues punk one man bands. Seriously though, does anyone even know who Junkpile Jimmy really is?
38. What is your favourite album by 36?
Don Covay
That would be the 2fer album "
Mercy/See Saw" - its the only thing I've got, and its awesome. Love just about every song.

I think it was
Needle in the Hay and hearing it on The Royal Tenenbaums. Not long after we bought
Either/Or and listened the fuck out of it.
40. What is your favourite album by 7?
Kimya Dawson
Hating on her seems to be the cool thing to do nowadays, but I don't give a fuck. I really like her. Favorite album? Probably
Remember That I Love You - but that might be just because it's her most recent album and what I've listened to the most of lately.
