I don't really subscribe to the "this or that Hank Williams was a disgrace" arguments that seem to plague their songs. Objectively, I think this song is garbage, regardless of who he is related to.

the music that he references tangentially here (and in "dick in dixie") is a disgrace to hank williams sr. and jr.; this song is honest in a number of important ways. the song that follows it on the album compares so well to hank sr. tracks that people who dislike hank iii as a result of anything related to his attitude simply cannot be smart individuals.

What a dumb comment by Haggard. More than half of the popular country performers these days can't even write their own music and songs I'm betting. They just sing and play what people give them, talk about a disgrace... Keep listening to bad pop country and tell yourself that those people are talented while the industry pulls their strings and tells them what to sing and play.

What?! Jr was a disgrace. Silly country radio pop. That's what this song is all about.
