His visual image characterised by his long hair, mustache and big rings softened the reaction of otherwise conservative Turkish public opinion regarding the marginal visual appearances. - Wikipedia
Barış Manço is maybe most well-known figure of Turkish Music. He is famous for his peaceful personality and TV programmes which in he did travel the world.
Sun of classical Turkish music, Pasha. Müren dressed effeminately, wearing large, ornate rings and heavy make up, especially in the later years of his life. In many ways, he had a pioneering role in rendering the Turkish society more accepting about homosexuality. He, with his distinct style, remained a highly respected artist throughout his career, and in a sense, paved the way for many later, more openly gay or transsexual Turkish artists. - Wikipedia
Zeki Muren had always close relations with audience. He is telling elegant words to his spectators in the video.

13.Aşık Veysel - Turkish Folk, Sung Poetry - He was blind for the most of his lifetime. His songs have usually sad tunes, often talking about inevitability of death
15.Neşet Ertaş - Turkish Folk - Turkish folk music singer, lyrics writer and a virtuoso of the traditional Turkish instrument bağlama
16.Orhan Gencebay - World Music, Arabesque, Fusion Music
From Crossing the Bridge (Best Documentarical movie about Turkish Music) Orhan Gencebay performing one of his signature songs "Hatasız Kul Olmaz" and Baba Zula talking about his importance in Turkish Music.
In the 1970s, Turkey's image was damaged by political violence between supporters of the left and the right, separatist movements and the rise of Islamism. As the country fell into chaos, the government suspected Cem Karaca of involvement. At times he was accused of treason for being a separatist thinker and a Marxist-Leninist. The Turkish government tried to portray Karaca as a man, who was unknowingly writing songs to start a revolution. - Wikipedia
At 10 February 1999 televised annual music awards ceremony, SHOW TV, at which he was to be named Musician of the Year, he spoke out about his 'Kurdish' background and said that he wanted to produce music in his native Kurdish as naturally as he does in Turkish. He announced that he had recorded a song in Kurdish (Karwan, released on the Hoşçakalın Gözüm album in 2001) and intended to produce a video to accompany it. At this event he was attacked by some Turkish singers like Serdar Ortac, Ebru Gundes and many other singers because of his stance on the use of Kurdish. Kaya went to France in June 1999 escaping various charges arising from his political views. He died of a heart attack in Paris in 2000, at the age of 43.

1. Najwa Karam - "Ya Donya"
We begin with some Arabic pop. Najwa's never been one of my favourite performers, but this showcases a pretty strong voice. Still, I wouldn't say no to something more up-tempo and fun.
2. Yalın - "Sen Dönmedem Uyumam Bu Gece"
From Lebanon to Turkey, where this young man is singing a rather sappy-sounding ballad. He has a very nice voice, but again I prefer my Middle Eastern music to be more up-tempo and fun to listen to. Still, someone to look into a bit more, I think. More Turkish music never goes to waste.
3. Emre Altuğ - "Dudak Dudaga"
We're still in Turkey, and this is a much dancier number, so I've got my wish. Emre's voice isn't so great, but he's got a good beat underneath him, and the song's pretty darn catchy. Not enough to unseat my Big Three (Kenan, Tarkan and Mustafa), but he's got potential.
4. Wedard - "Im Lichtsrausche der Eisblume"
And just like that, we switch to some depressive-sounding black metal. This has all the usual tropes of the style, and really doesn't grab me at all.
5. Altan - "The Waves of Gola"
A spot of Irish folk now, and of a lovely traditional hue to boot. This perhaps crosses over from sounding authentically folky to sounding like something you'd play over the credits of a fantasy film (indeed, I'm reminded very strongly of the "Princess Bride" soundtrack, which perhaps says more for Mark Knopfler's talents), but it's a good listen. Very mellow, rather than being a crazed jig.
6. Mustafa Sandal - "Jest Oldu"
One of my Big Three of Turkish pop, as mentioned above. I've never heard this track before, but I automatically like it. Totally aside from my bias, this is a nice track - it builds slowly, and never turns into a pounding club hit, but just works beautifully. Top quality stuff.
7. Sharkiat - "Nahawand"
Arabic-styled jazz, which is a remarkably tricky thing to pull off without sounding silly. This seems to break for the more traditional sound, rather than being overly jazzy, so it makes for interesting listening. Not all that great, though.
8. Hande Yener - "Yalan Olmasın"
More Turkish pop, now with female vocals. There's not an awful lot going on in this track, which feels very "washed out" for some reason. It's not a bad listen, but there's just not enough of an interest level to make me want to check out more of Hande's work.
9. Glittertind - "Norge I Rødt, Hvitt Og Blått"
Rather a famous name in folk metal, but a rather uninspired folk/punk sound. I'm not feeling this at all.
10. Storm - "Time To Burn"
The dance act of this name, rather than anything else. This is entirely devoid of excitement.
Hande Yener did it! With the song Romeo she won the exiting final of ISF2008. It is a first win for Turkey, and a deserved one I think. The video was definately a great way to promote the song, but the international juries were almost unanimous in their verdict, although Syria and Germany came close.
