kengetsu's top albums (3 months) 1. Versailles - Noble (80)

I actually like Lyrical Sympathy just a little better overall, but otherwise Noble would've been my favorite album of all. Plus, Noble has Aristocrat's Symphony, which I lovelovelove. Favorite song second only to SILENT KNIGHT, and the song that got me into Versailles in the first place. I love this album so much.

Favorite Songs: Aristocrat's Symphony, After Cloudia, -Second Fear-Another Descendant, History of the Other Side, SUZERAIN, Fuck I love them all, but they're my favorites.

2. Versailles - PRINCE & PRINCESS (68)

I blame SILENT KNIGHT for this. This is what, a three-song single, and it tops all the full-length albums I have (except Noble)? I love that song way too much. I love Prince and Princess, too, but god, SILENT KNIGHT. FAVORITE SONG OF ALL TIME. SO MUCH LOVE.

Favorite Songs: All of them. But most of all SILENT KNIGHT. That song by itself I could listen to forever and ever and ever.

3. REPO! The Genetic Opera Soundtrack - Repo! The Genetic Opera - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (66)

Zydrate comes in a little glass vial... enough said.

Favorite Songs: Legal Assassin, Zydrate Anatomy, Let the Monster Rise, Chromaggia

4. Versailles - Lyrical Sympathy (56)

There's Lyrical Sympathy. Favorite album, ever. If Aristocrat's Symphony and Silent Knight and Serenade are on it it will become an album of way too much godliness to handle. But sadly, they aren't. Dx
Still my favorite album of all time.

Favorite Songs: Love From a Dead Orchestra, The Red Carpet Day, Beast of Desire (same sentiments I have for Noble, and everything Versailles ever comes out with)

5. Adagio - Archangels in Black (48)

Adagio's one of my newfound favorites and I listen to them so much :D I love the mix of clean and harsh vocals. So addictive.

Favorite Songs: Undead, The Fifth Ankh, Codex Oscura

6. Lacroix Despheres - Dernier Paradis -The Symphonic Gothic Rock Opera- act1 (40)

Gah. I love Sho and Saya's vocals. I'm a sucker for Opera vocals, and you'd expect Saya to have a little cutsey J-pop voice, but no. FULL-BLOWN OPERA VOCALS. Amazing.

Favorite Songs: 古の刻より舞い降りし者たち, La vérité fermée

7. Versailles - ASCENDEAD MASTER (29)

Most of Versailles's releases are going to be on my top ten and stay there. :D I love Ascendead Master, but nothing tops SILENT KNIGHT for me.

okay! welcome one and all to my top 50 albums of this autumn ^o^//~~ have fun!

Chrissi-chan's top albums (3 months) 1. Dir en grey - Withering to death. (215)

well, unsurprisingly my number 1 album is one I bought over half-term and so it's lovely and shiny and new and I listened to it alot >w< plus it's an AWEsome album and with 14 quite short tracks it just managed to pip Lyrical Sympathy to the post ^__^;; all the same, well done Diru! Withering. is the third Diru album I got and, although not quite as masterpiece-ful as UROBOROS, it is extremely good to the ears and combines the wide variety of styles and feelings with the overall creepily seductive sound that just *makes* Diru Diru ^w^

Favourite songs: Machiavellism, dead tree and KODOU
Most scrobbled songs: THE FINAL (55), SAKU (45) and KODOU (24)
(I had THE FINAL and SAKU before getting the full album - is it a bit obvious? XD)
2. Versailles - Lyrical Sympathy (207)

VERSAIIIIIILES!!!!! \m/>_<\m/ frickin' love this band to PIECES I tell you ^w^ Lyrical Sympathy is an AMAzing EP: seven songs that are basically seven reasons why Versailles are the best band in the world >x< a brilliant display of musical competence, wonderful song-writing and a perfectly balanced album. Would have been top if it wasn't for the fact that seven long songs were always going to struggle against fourteen short ones XD oh! and if you try it: listen out for the most amazing guitar solos you will EVER hear ^w^

3. Sonata Arctica - The Days of Grays (206)

Sonata.. what can I say? ^w^ we went to go see them earlier this month and earlier in the autumn they gave us this: pretty much a perfect album ^w^ Personally I still prefer Unia, but Days of Grays has a technically more rounded 'album sound' which makes it ridiculously addictive to listen to and just a pleasure to the ears :3 Thanks to my awesome sister teriyaki for getting it so we could listen to it!! >w<\m/

4. Versailles - Noble (127)

The first of the not-new-this-season albums is the first full-length album from Versailles and man, everything that comes out of this band I end up adoring - can't wait till JUBILEE!!! >w<

5. Dir en grey - UROBOROS (101)

Just a masterpiece - the first Diru album I got and just mindblowing from start to finish. I have no idea where they're going to go now, but if the new single is anything to go by they're still going up << I didn't really think this was even possible ^__^;;

6. Nicholas Hooper - Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (89)

yayyyy! >w< Harry Potter!!! ^o^//~~ seriously, I adore this score - probably my favourite out of all of them: just an excellent use of leitmotif and some absolutely phenomenal composing which I feel really brings together the sounds of its predecessors.. at any rate, a damn sight better than Order XD go Hooper-san! \m/>_<\m/

7. Dir en grey - VULGAR (86)

The earliest Diru album I own and just so much fun >w< seriously, I still adore this album even though I'm pretty sure it's the weakest out of the three I have - it just has a certain charm to it :)

8. Sonata Arctica - Unia (82)

ahh, here it is - Sonata in perfection in my opinion ^__^ I just adore this album, so full of complex lines and each song has a real flow to it << really feels like the album drags you through this nightmarish dream world ^w^ just an awesome album.

Favourite songs: Caleb, Fly With the Black Swan and In Black and White

9. HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR - swamp man (80)

the most recent addition to my Haikara collection, swamp man is the debut album for new member HALCA. I really loved her voice on this, and was hugely impressed by the composition from mACKAz, Kazuto, MEG and especially SASSY - it's rather rare for a drummer to be so good at vocal and melodic composition so kudos to you Sass! the album kind of reminds me of Gou on Progressive though - it all has a similar feel and sounds like a 'finding-our-sound' album.. hopefully next time round there'll be a resurgance of the energy that really *makes* Haikara but whatever happens, I'm looking forward to a new release from these guys ^w^

10. 北出菜奈 - BONDAGE (68)

this came through my postbox back in march when it was released and it still isn't dropping out of my top albums >w< I love it so much - it's definitely Nana's most sophisticated and acomplished album to date: the composition is wonderful and the way she uses her voice incredible. Overall, a very mature performance and clearly what *she* wanted to do - bodes extremely well for her new project Loveless, which is still keeping me on the edge of my seat >w< we need news dammit!

the new single from Diru and SERIOUSLY D: I didn't think they could do anything new of UROBOROS standard and then they just do D: I wa shock! but seriously, this song is amazing and the remake of Zan and Shokubeni are well-worth getting your paws on (although I haven't actually got the original version of Zan so feel free to tell me I am wrong and the remake is utter shite ^__^) seriously, Shokubeni (SHOT IN ONE TAKE) makes me even more impressed with Kyo's vocal ability than before - and that's *saying* something D::::::::

ahah! cue the mistags!!!!! >w< yes, these scrobbles are from before I got the actual album and instead had a couple of songs that I accidentally mistagged DX all it is is that the little '~' wiggles are shorter than they should be ¬__¬ how lame is that? anyways, I ended up getting this album six days ago, so not so many scrobbles yet but it's so wonderful it will just collect more and more as I go >w< I love how much fun this band have and how ridiculous (and ridiculously good D:) they are. Only Aikaryu could stick a comic strip in their lyrics sleeve in which their bassist frees himself from prison by running straight through a brick wall and their drummer gets raised from his grave ^__^;; listen out for the AMAzing work of my dear Terukichi, who I will marry one day and all >x< epic fangirl for the win! ~~\^o^/~~

Nightwish/Sonata connections

(14 days and counting!! :D)

I decided to while away the time by showing you all how ridiculously centralised my music is. The vast majority of what I listen to is connected in some way to Nightwish or Sonata Arctica, my two favourite bands who just happen to be best buddies, apparently. To illustrate this fact, here's a list of the artists I currently have queued up on my playlist and how they're connected to Nightwish or Sonata.

Alyson Avenue - Anette Olzon was the vocalist
Brother Firetribe - Emppu Vuorinen is the guitarist (or one of, they may have two, idk) and Anette guested on one of their songs
Deadlock - no connection.
Delain - supporting Sonata Arctica on their current tour, and Marco Hietala guested on many of their songs
Dir en grey - no connection.
Elias Viljanen - is also the current guitarist for Sonata, and Tony and Marco have both provided vocals for his solo project
Emppu Vuorinen - is obviously the guitarist for Nightwish
Finntroll - one of Finntroll's old vocalists, Tapio Wilska, guested on several Nightwish songs
Galneryus - no technical connection, although the sound is quite similar to Sonata
HIZAKI grace project - no technical connection, although three members are also in Versailles (see below)
Machinae Supremacy - no connection. Apart from being the same nationality as Anette xD
Marco Hietala - is also the current bassist and male vocalist in Nightwish
Martin Kesici feat. Tarja Turunen - Tarja was obviously the old vocalist of Nightwish
My Dying Bride - Tuomas Holopainen cites them as a major influence and a favourite band
Nightwish - IS NIGHTWISH xD
Northern Kings - one vocalist is Marco of Nightwish and another is Tony Kakko of Sonata Arctica
Pain - supported Nightwish on their latest European tour
Sonata Arctica - IS SONATA ARCTICA xD
Sydänpuu - vocals, guitars, bass and keys are all performed by Jani Liimatainen, Sonata Arctica's old guitarist
Tarot - Marco is the bassist and vocalist
Tarja - Nightwish's old singer, obviously
Tony Kakko - singer/songwriter/composer/clown/keyboardist/general genius of Sonata Arctica :D Has also guested on a couple of Nightwish songs
Versailles - no connection, although the sound is not too different from Nightwish and Sonata Arctica
Winterborn - supporting Sonata on their current tour
Zachary Hietala - brother of Mr Marco Hietala ;)

As you can see, I should really be less biased in my music xDD
