Mês passadoI think we can add "milestone in rock history" to the list of phrases that have become meaningless that should from now on be ignored. @indietrash Opera sucks and so does "indie".

maio de 2009Cool job bringing Led Zeppelin up on the American Idiot page, Bunglechunk. I just (as in, 2 hours ago) burned this cd from my sister, and I have yet to listen to it. I'm sure that it isn't a milestone or anything, but hopefully it's a pretty good album.

maio de 2009…Cont - To everyone else who has the sense of a shit-house rat by simply saying “you’re (learn to spell and punctuate TrisThEsHiT7) stupid” or the ever original and intellectual “fuck off haters”, well everyone has an opinion. None of them are written in stone right or wrong, that’s why it’s called an opinion. We’re not stupid and we won’t fuck off. Fact is this is NOT A MILESTONE IN ROCK HISTORY. Led Zeppelin’s self-titled debut album was a milestone in rock history and quite simply a masterpiece that changed the way we listen to music as a whole. American Idiot is just a low point in Green Day’s discography and an attempt to get the Busted/McFly fans to waste yet more of their parents’ money on this pop-punk-emo drivel – highlighted by the ridiculous eye makeup and black shirt, red tie cliché. Green Day was a great band once, but that was a long time ago. Now they just look like three old guys trying to connect with the kids. It’s wrong and they should stop now. That’s my opinion.

maio de 2009I've been a fan of green day since '95 and I have to say that this is the worst material they’ve ever produced. @ schafwollsocken – listen to Insomniac (their best album to date by far). Even listen to Dookie, Kerplunk or 39/Smooth. Just educate yourself in the early Green Day. @ TrisThEsHiT7 – Get a grip of yourself boy! I’m not pissed that they’ve put a little politics and emotion into it, they had emotion long before this album ever was conceived. They’re just going the way of every other punk band that’s been mainstream…POP-PUNK. They should’ve quit after Warning. The fact that this entire album was an afterthought when their studio was broken into and the original material for the album was stolen says it all. Cont…

maio de 2009Huh... This has that odd combo-track set-up. I saw it in the store, with a bonus track, but I already have the album and the single with that B-side, so there wasn't much point in getting it.

maio de 2009I dont understand why American Idiot is not beloved by just about all Green Day Fans. It IS a milestone in rock history. Anybody that disagrees with me, youre stupid, the proof is right in front of your eyes. Do you know ANY OTHER material as of 2004, that was filed under the category of PUNK ROCK OPERA????? Its divided into acts, tells a story about the falling of america, and if thats not enough, its singles are stronger and widely spread throughout the album than any other Green Day album. Oh and btw, Fuck you people, how dare you accuse this as shit like a new direction not embracing the old. BOTH this and 21st Century Breakdown have plenty of pure punk songs, that could have easily been inserted into a past Green Day album, and you would NOT have had a problem with it. You're just pissed that they put a little emotion and politics in your punk. Get over it, get on your boots and listen to Horseshoes and Handgrenades, you unsupportive pricks

maio de 2009But its already too late, it went down in history, look at the nuber of copies of this album sold - you say it doesnt matter? well, actually it does. Overexposure? I wouldnt be certain if that was because of band's direct choice. downhill career? I cant understand how can one say sth like that exept when youre a punk elitist who digs only garage alike stuff and always tends to claim that 'old band X is the only true X'. They used to write fine catchy rock'n'roll tunes with light-hearted lyrics. Now they are writing fine catchy and complex and varied rock'n'roll tunes with mature, serious lyrics. Is that a downhill career? And one last thing, they DID contribute to music a lot. And with this album, for a second time. (first: Dookie, 1994)

maio de 2009"A milestone in rock history"? Are you fucking serious dude? They contributed absolutely nothing to the music scene with this album. The only thing this is a milestone for is their constant downhill career.

maio de 2009It's far from a milestone in rock history. It has done nothing that hadn't been done before. However, it is a good album with some catchy songs. It's main issue was overexposure. When it first came out, and in the year that followed, I have no idea how many times I heard the title track, Holiday, Boulevard and September. And that is a BIG problem. I can only now start listening to it again. Also, I agree that Whatsername is one of the best songs on the album. It's a solid album, but nothing deserving of going down in history for.

king_ston escreveu:
maio de 2009a milestone in rock history, face it haters.

Tabi-chan escreveu:
maio de 2009Whatsername is probably the sole track on the album that saves it. Actually, no, it doesn't save it, because I still think this album is garbage and if I hear "Wake Me Up When September Ends" one more time, I'm gonna personally find Billie and gourge out his eyes and tongue with a cereal spoon.

maio de 2009Probably their worst? NO it is by far their worst. When I first heard something from the album on the radio it made my day. I was excited to hear some new Green Day but its not quite the same. A HUGE leap from where they left off. There is much laziness in Billy's songwriting here which is what troubled me most. They could have toned down the dramatic bullshit as well. When I imagine them creating this I see the group carefully going over what theyll be wearing for their great comeback before even writing a single note. They put on some skinny red ties and eyeliner and they call it a day.
