This journal covers my personal views of music; why I like some things and dislike others. The stuff I’ve written will probably make me sound like an elitist arsehole, but the point is not to belittle other musical tastes (except pop rock which should fuck off) or claim that music I make is the best (it really isn’t), rather just to get across what I believe in in terms of music as a whole. I wrote this for a few reasons. Mainly, it’s just nice to get something off your chest that you’re passionate about. Another good reason is because a lot of my friends (most of whom happen to adore pop rock) have argued with me many times over the years claiming that my music taste is completely bollocks and my own opinions are unfounded. So to here I can direct all subsequent arguments. I cover the following topics in this order: album listening, the song/track concept, improvisation, generic music and vocals.
