Biografia

HEAVY METAL - GERMANY

Man, the Clash of the Gods album kicks everyone's deep-fried buttocks so hard, just like every other of their opuses. The other day I took out a dictionary and browsed my way to "gravedigger"; the definition was "the epitome of heavy metal".

I find Sabaton's stuff much more... generic, calculated. They think what they do and stick into that very narrow musical field of theirs. Whereas Digger have been different in different times, and at their best they're among the most bad ass, most atmospheric, most beautiful and most historically accurate band. There have been many different themes going on in the albums. Sabaton? War, and sounding bad ass. :P Simplification, I know, but I actually feel something along these lines. Digger have been so many more different things than Sabaton will most likely ever even try to be. They're a product; Digger have been visionary musicians.

It's true Sabaton has completely different lyrical approach, but there are plenty of similarities to Grave Digger too. Tight rhythms, cool shredding, and a more "gruff" vocal delivery rather than the soaring power metal vocal style. I'd say Sabaton is a lot closer in overall sound to Grave Digger than Primal Fear is.

Iron Savior and Primal Fear are only there cause of the whole German Metal thing, I don't think they sound similar.

"Simmilar artists" algorithm is only about tags and user statistics, not very helpful. When I get a chance I always recommend Grave Digger to Sabaton fans (especially those who don't know too many matal bands other than Sabaton). Poor old Digger is criminally underrated.
