i enjoy their newer style because of the more varied instrumentation and sound. as far as them being deemed post rock, seems irrelevant considering how good the music is. although one thing i feel really distinguishes grails from the bands i tend to think of as being labeled post rock is the drums. emil amos really knows what hes doing. the post rock(at least that i've heard) has drums that are drowned in crash cymbals and stiff as a dead boner. post rocks kind of iffy anyway. really wtf is it?

I'm sure they are pretty happy with their underground status. What matters is people appreciate the music they create. when shit gets popular we all know people just listen to it for the hipster cred of knowing a band... i.e. poor poor Mogwai. I am glad they do what they want without the worry of not being heard. It would kill me if they ever released a safe album just to please unappreciative fans .
