Graham CoxonWhat a year that was! New bands, old bands with new albums, concerts, festivals, new friends... Lovely combination. And it's always useful to have a journal that can capture some of that.
The top 5 charts have been a very intresesting struggle, ever since we watched high fidelity, so this is what I would like to do, concert-wise, album-wise and song-wise.
A chalenge that I think I can only start at the moment, will need some thinking to finish though.
So lets see...
Top 5 Concerts 2009
1. Blur at Hyde Park - the long waited reunion of Blur lasted for several concerts, i was lucky enough to go to one of Hyde Park's shows, a massive flashback of me, my life and experience years ago. Very nice when this happens, concert of a band that you listened to long time ago, a band that did not release much afterwards and suddenly you go to a concert that was supposed to be attended back then but with all the songs that you're used to and that you love :) And Damon was so carying and romantic, "Look at the sun, the next song is for the sun...Get home safely ... Enjoy your summer" and we did indeed :)
2. Peter Doherty in Perpignian - it's really hard to express what it was for me ... There were Pete's songs, The Libertines songs, Babyshambles ... and the loveliest supprise of all - Graham Coxon :)
3. Oasis in Vienna - I just can't miss my last Oasis show now that the band is gone (first third)
Oh, now it's getting tougher but I need to choose, I came down to 3 concerts and need to pick two so...
4. Clawfinger at Spirit of Burgas - even though it was part of a festival this concert deserves a spot here. it was experince of flashbacks... Flashbacks of songs, flashbacks of old friends gathered together, flashback of what we were and mostly still are. I really don't regret not going to Editors that night ...
5. Radiohead in Praha - it's seems that the overwhealming emotions are my trigger to remember and appreciate the concerts I go to. And Radiohead are a band that certainly take out your emotions, as soon as
There There started the tears were all over my face. And from then on it was all one big feeling ... if you've been there you know what i mean (first fourth)

3. Kasabian - West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum
4. Mando Diao - Give Me Fire
5. Gomez - A New Tide
Not much to say here, just that these albums, at some point during 2009, I just didn't want to stop listening to...
Top 5 Songs 2009
1. Peter Doherty -Salome I could place the entire album here but if I have to pick one song this one it is
2. Kasabian - Fast Fuse This song has so much energy that get's into you when you listen to it, you just want to jump all over the place
3. Editors -Papillon I just love when i hear a song during a concert for the first time and i start singing just after a few lines and fall for it afterwards
4. Muse - I Belong to You When i listen to it it feels I'm in a totally different place ... somewhere in a W. Alan's movie, or even worse ... a French one :-)
5. Silversup pickups -The Royal We as hard as this fifth track was picked (again, I wanted to pick all songs in the album) as relieved I am now ... very carefully look over your shoulder ... and wait patiently what 2010 will bring
Muse would have fitted everywhere above but I guess there wasn't enough time for The Resistence to get under my skin. Now there's not much room for anything there anyway ... Bad timing ... But that's not something I will forget so I don't need a journal for it ...
