I haven't been to many concerts lately... In fact, it's been almost TWO whole years since i've seen anything worth mentioning, mostly due to the fact that i'm now a busy little working class underpaid ant feeding the machine, contrasting with my old college sleep-and-drink persona.

With that said, I did a little mind-scan and started to think about the last really good show held by an International Act (I'm Portuguese, so any Spanish band is pretty international to me) in my tiny little sunny country... The results were less than satisfying... I mean, just look at my list below and compare it with the kind of music that I hear nowadays.

So, without further ado, BEHOLD MY WALL OF SHAME!


- H.I.M. (This was funny as hell, in a look-at-me-i'm-pretending-to-be-goth way)

- Hoobastank (Opened for Incubus, so for more on that, read below)

- Incubus (Saw them twice, once in a festival and the other time in Lisbon... Head-bunted a girl half my size that was never meant to be in the mosh pit in the first place and promised myself never to attend a Trendy Metal show in my life. I just felt out of place during the entire show... Incubus changed my attitude towards music... Thanks, guys!)

- Korn (Saw them twice... Boy, was that money well spent!)

- Limp Bizkit (Yeah... Go figure!)

- Orishas (We have a thing in Portugal called "Semana Académica", where every student drinks gallons of beer and attends to mostly Portuguese Acts for a week. These guys came to the place I was studying twice, so I kinda saw them... Can't remember much, though)

- P.O.D. (I used to be a lot into Nu-Metal. Everybody was in 2000. Don't be so judgmental! Jeez!!!)

- Red Hot Chili Peppers (It sucked big-time, btw)



On the upside, here are the acts that I'm proud of seeing live:

- The Arcade Fire (The experience of a lifetime)

- 2 Many DJ's (Hang all Djs, save for David and Stephen)

- 311 (It was O.K.)

- Badly Drawn Boy (This one, my friends, was my best show ever! Summer sun was setting, there were about 100 people enjoying the show, everybody smiled to each other, and Badly Drawn Boy was funny and witty and just perfect. One of those "I'm glad I lived to see this" moments.

- Beck (Sea Change Beck, btw)

- Beth Gibbons & Rustin Man (Beth Gibbons is such a nice lady)

- Bloc Party (Not my cup of tea, but it was ok)

- boysetsfire (I used to love these guys...)

- Cake (Amazing show! It never stopped raining for one second, and I was soaked and freezing, but I travelled 300 km just to see them and the band was playing their best, so I felt rewarded...)

- Chumbawamba (Did you know that they used to be Punk?)

- Companyia Electrica Dharma (These guys were great! Never heard of them again, which is a pity)

- Deftones (They put up a good show, just don't like them anymore... Saw them twice)

- dEUS (Great, great show! Tom Barman was pissed because a pigeon pooped on his pants...)

- Emir Kusturica & The No Smoking Orchestra (Funniest/happiest show of my life! Kusturica sucks at guitar, but his films are magnificent and the rest of his band was extremely energetic)

- Gabriel o Pensador (Brazilian rapper, nice guy)

- Gotan Project (They put up an amazing show)

- Hevia (This Bagpiper could teach Jonathan Davis a thing or two)

- Jamiroquai (Saw them twice... My ex liked them.)

- Klaxons (I got bored and went for a beer after a while...)

- Lee Scratch Perry (Kind of annoying...)

- Mad Caddies (Ska should always be this fun!)

- Mad Professor (Slightly less annoying than Lee Scratch Perry)

- The Magic Numbers (WOW!)

- Martinho da Vila (This Grampa ROCKS)

- Mayra Andrade (Beautiful!)

- Moloko (I used to hate them, until I got to see them live... Now I hate them slightly less. They were great that night)

- Morcheeba (Kind of boring...)

- Muse (Awesome show, in their early stages)

- Pearl Jam (Still like them, though I don't listen to them much nowadays)

- Skin (Not bad at all)

- Smoke City (Nina is sooooo cute)

- Suede (La la la la la la la lala lala lala...)

- Taraf de Haidouks (The sound was terrible, but still it was fun)

- Therapy? (I guess it was O.K.)

- The Vandals (I used to be a lot into Punk when I was a teenager, so there you go)

- Young Gods (KISSING THE SUN!!!)
