“Fields of the Nephilim is a gothic rock band formed in Stevenage, Hertfordshire in 1984. The original line-up consisted of vocalist Carl McCoy, saxophonist Gary Whisker, Tony Pettitt on bass, guitarist Paul Wright and drummer Alexander “Nod” Wright. Following the release of the debut EP Burning the Fields, Whisker left the band to be replaced by Peter Yates as second guitarist. The band’s name refers to (magnetic) fields and a biblical race of giants or Angel/Human hybrids, known as the Nephilim. Although they have not received substantial mainstream success, the band’s seminal sound has proved highly influential, especially in the genre of gothic rock, and later on - gothic metal.”

to compare tSoM AND FotN, and, in conclusion, come out with the idea that one is way better than the other is to talk nonsense. basically, McCoy lacks Eldo's capability to bring in elements of goth rock and intellectual and political matters while Eldo is not musically as consistent as McCoy. the fact is that both bands are unique.

Mourning Sun ..I mean 'what the fuck' it was 2005 ...close me eyes and im back in 1989 at 'the Glasgow barrowlands'...Zharath....you are right on the money my friend .....viva the apocalypse ..the only band to produce continuous quality of this magnitude....

Great band. And it's quite brilliant how McCoy has managed to create such a different album as Mourning Sun, with the same quality as their older works. I'd like to see some other bands do that, though IMO FotN is the only band that ever did that trick.
