Ferry Corsten - Twice in a blue moon (remixed)

The Dutch superstar has consistently shown his electronic talent through slick production and epic DJ sets, with his success being illustrated in the DJ Top 100 poll top ten where Ferry has had a residency for the past five years. 2009 has seen Ferry’s radio show Corsten’s Countdown go from strength to strength, release the singles Made Of Love ft. Betsie Larkin and We Belong taken from the album to much acclaim whilst continually touring around the globe AND host his annual shindig Full On Ferry –The Masquerade. It's a fair assumption that Ferry is one of the busiest names in dance music!

Unsurprisingly to most of us clubbers, Armin van Buuren has snagged the top DJ spot for the third year in a row. And he got the call that he'd won yet again whilst on honeymoon.

"I couldn't believe it," he says with a huge smile. "I still can't believe it. I expected David Guetta to win so I was totally blown away. This was the least expected one. I can understand that people might think that if you win it for the third time it's not that special anymore. But, for me, it's the most special." Hear his gratitude for his fans in his own words in the video below.



DJ Mag has tacked up substantial articles on a lot of the top 100 DJs up at their site. You can find Van Buuren's here. In it, he reveals that Ben Liebrand has been Holland's best kept secret since the ’80s, and why the Pioneer CDJ-2000 is his favourite tech toy.

Also, Armin Only, a book about his work and successes, has finally been translated from Dutch to English.

The other nine DJs in the top ten, from 2 to 10, are Tiësto, David Guetta, Above & Beyond, Paul van Dyk, Deadmau5, Ferry Corsten, Markus Shultz, Gareth Emery, and Sander van Doorn.

To celebrate, I'm posting a video of him performing this year at Opera nightclub in Atlanta, the very club where I had the honour of clasping his hand. (I'm still sore from seeing Sasha there a couple of nights ago.)

DJ Observer - August 2009 updates

It's October – not that you needed us (or your calendar) to tell you that – but in dance-land it does mean one thing above all others: ADE! DJ Observer is Amsterdam-bound for the conference & festival this week with a fresh batch of hot new productions tucked under his arm. Read further down the page for more details of his goings-on over there! Wolfgang waved a fond farewell to a truly massive summer, playing at the T-Mobile Bonusz with Ferry Corsten, Booka Shade & Dave Clarke in Budapest at the end of August. It's a busy as hell in the run up to the festive season too (with 10 gigs before the end of November!) so whether you be in Austria or Amsterdam, make sure you check out one of the nights!
