Fall Out Boy é uma banda de Chicago, criada em 2001. O nome foi escolhido pelo público no primeiro show da banda; é inspirado em um personagem da série de TV Os Simpsons e tem como referência uma banda chamada Shadow Night que não é muito conhecida pelo mundo afora mas tem uma boa carreira nas estradas…
Joe Trohman e Pete Wentz se conheceram num evento de punk e hardcore em Chicago. Os dois decidiram criar uma banda diferente do Punk/Hardcore e parecida com bandas que eles escutavam como Green Day e Saves the Day. Em 2001, Trohman conheceu Patrick Stump numa loja de livros. Joe Trohman depois apresentou Patrick ao Pete Wentz. Patrick Stump originalmente começou sendo o baterista da banda, mas depois virou o cantor, mas não tinha nenhuma experiência com isso. Depois, Pete Wentz recrutou seu amigo Andy Hurley, que tinha tocado anteriormente em outras bandas como baterista.
Enquanto eles não tinham um nome, a banda perguntou à platéia em um show no colégio como que a banda poderia se chamar, então a platéia gritou “Fall Out Boy”, o nome do assistente do herói Homem Radioativo, personagem da série animada Os Simpsons.
Fizeram sua primeira apresentação no Brasil no sétimo São Paulo Mix Festival realizado no dia 22 de outubro de 2006.

yeah, but that was so real.... I almost killed myself! FOB is dangerous.... I once heard that luleerulah verse during one of my trips and you know what came from the bathroom? A GIANT TANK-LIKE MACHINE WITH TONS OF HUMAN SHIT ON IT. I was freaked out completely and ran away from the house.... and then I saw that sky is brown and clouds are read..... That was horrible.... I saw a man with purple revolver pointing it at my head and laughing..... And later I understood that it was Patrick Stump.... but he was old... very old.... he was bald but with moustaches and he looked very ill, he wore green suit (just like in most of other of my hallucinations)..... Then he shot me in the chest.... I felt pain and fell on blue grass..... I saw my blood speckling with rainbow colors.... I fell asleep for several minutes.... when I woke up everything was normal but I still was in deep shock....

This band is creepy.... I remember I heard it while tripping... awful.... When I heard the song about sugar & downtown.... I saw like group of bums with pink and hats glasses ran into our bus and started to scream aloud and beat everyone and everything... I remember that I saw swarms of little snakes that went through these bums' eyes, ears & mouths... then snakes turned into fire and I saw how my bus burned down and everything started to look like we're in giant anaconda's throat, I was scared.... my friends were holding me in order to avoid me hurting myself or something... later they said that bus driver and some passengers were annoyed by my behavior.... but I was so scared..... it all looked so real.... I remember seeing vermni - rats, snakes, insects, worms running around on the bus's floor... ....man, that was awful... I will never listen FOB.... what would be if not my friends? I heard that sometimes people kill themselves during acid trips....
