static Fear is an Austrian gothic doom band, combining classical arrangements, medieval music and metal elements in their music. The main member of Estatic Fear is Matthias Kogler. Albums are released through CCP Records.
The band was formed in 1994 in Austria.
In 1995, Estatic Fear took part in one-hour compilation “Exit”, produced by Martin Auzinger and Peter Kern, together with bands Coffee & Cream, Mortus, Born In The Bottle, Bereavement, Nochtschicht, Herb, Dystrophy, Still No Name, Out Of Cage.
In 1996, the band signed up with CCP Records and released CD Somnium Obmutum, produced by Claus Prellinger. Moody, melancholic doom-metal is combined with orchestral arrangements on piano and cello and authentic instruments like a lute, flute and acoustic guitars. Music and lyrics were written by all the members in collaboration.

I also wouldn't mind contributing so that a new album could be recorded. A sombre dance has been one of my all-time favourites for years, and I was desperate about the eternal hiatus of the band, nowhere to be found. Happy to hear that Matthias is keeping contact with fans and that he intends to release sth whenever it's possible. APostmodernist, please keep us updated! :) Have you thought about creating a petition asking for a new album, gathering the fanbase, and then sending it to Matthias? And also if there's any kind of fan community or anything please say. ;) Thanks a lot!!!!

How is the intro to A Sombre Dance meant to be tagged? I have it as "Intro", as on the album page, but other examples are both "Intro (Unisono lute instrumental)" and "Intro (Unisono lute intumental)".

Matthias's response about this matter which I received in spring 2009: "But seriously – concerning what you mentioned at the end of your mail: You are right that recording music does cost quite a bit of money (the musicans, the studio and all the rest got to be paid for), BUT: If some fan of my music decides that he´d rather download some specific mp3 just for the reason that he either doesn´t want to buy the whole album or (as you mentioned) just hasn´t got the possibility to buy it in a local store that´s fine with me. If he likes it he can always choose to buy it at a later time or just continue to listen to his mp3 on the computer – what matters most is that music is listend to ! (Of course - if I depended on the money I earn with my music for a living my point of view might be a bit different...)" I've asked him again whether he can think of a way how we can transfer him the money. You can also email Matthias and ask - this will increase the chance of a quicker response.
