Emmure is an American deathcore band formed in 2003, originally based in Connecticut, but now residing in Queens, New York. The group has a total of seven releases. With their two demos entitled Nine Eleven Zero Four and Demo 2005 they attracted the attention of This City Is Burning Records through which the band released their debut extended play The Complete Guide to Needlework.
Victory Records took notice of the band after the release of their extended play and signed them. They released their first full-length album Goodbye to the Gallows in 2007. The band has been signed to the label ever since. Their second, third and fourth albums The Respect Issue (2008), Felony (2009) and Speaker of the Dead (2011) were all distributed through Victory.
Formation
Emmure was founded in 2003. Ben and Joe Lionetti (from New Fairfield, Connecticut) met Franklin Palmeri (from Queens, New York) over an online search to find members for a musical group. Palmeri then traveled to Connecticut to begin rehearsals together. Bassist Mark Davis and guitarist Jesse Ketive then joined when the three began another recruiting search for members.Ketive was formerly in the band Warfix, in which he played guitar alongside Bryan Goldsman of Southside Panic.

In 2008, the band finished a tour in the lower 48 US states supporting Misery Signals, August Burns Red, and Burn Down Rome. That summer was spent on their headlining tour with Endwell, On Broken Wings, Ligeia, Recon, Unite and Conquer, Carnifex and others.

Yeah, but Emmure use plenty of kick drum, and blasts - certainly harder than plenty of Death Metal bands. The kick drum is also harder to play than Thrash due to its complexity.

To all those who bash them, play some higher register dissonant chords with time changes on 7 string guitars yourself. I don't think it's simple to play - the changes and kick drum are hard to get tight. I think the drumming is infinitely harder than most prior Classic Metal, and a good chunk of modern Metal. Furthermore the 5 note songs with a whammy bar have to be well written or they just wouldn't have a memorable / moshable groove to them. Just breakdowns? Nope, plenty of melodic leads on some songs. Emmure rule, although The Acacia Strain are even better.
