I used to make these top 10 lists every year to try to make myself look back at the past year and think about what was good, what was crap, what was a waste of time, what is still worth listening to. But my music taste changed so much and when I look at them now I get embarrassed. So I decided to delete them all and make this instead.

10 best albums of 2008

In 2008 I think I used too much time listening to "pitchfork darlings" (Deerhunter, Animal Collective etc.) that where nothing else than the hype. So the 2008 list looks pretty empty and disappointing now with not any really really good albums.

I think my taste in music is quite unique and i was under the impression Last.fm agreed to that, while non of my neighbours are a 100% match.
About a week ago i was just browsing around on some artist pages, checking if top listeners of Ellen Allien & Apparat also had Way Out as there most-played track. All of a sudden i stumbled on a profile which showed a 100% compatibility rate!
I started listening to some of the artists in that profile that i hadn't heard of before, and well, it's all good. Tough i still don't think our tastes are 100% compatible, techno was underrepresented and i think i saw some punk there.

Basically, this is inspired by the Nordic Artist Chart by user Radiopilote. I wanted this for german artists, found nothing similar and did it on my own.

I browsed tags, similar artists and national charts to get this list of the top 100 artists on Last.fm, sorted by the number of overall listeners (date: 27 April, 2009).
