I saw Eliza when I was about 8 playing with Waterson:Carthy. She signed my ticket and drew a little fiddle for me. She was my first inspiration to write my own folk songs and traditional songs and I now perform. I am forever indebted to her for kickstarting a life long passion! My music is at www.youtube.com/user/pridsters

Personally I prefer her more fiddle-centered stuff. Sometimes I find her vocals smother the instrumental element, like in Tuesday morning for example. Her best tracks are those in which she gets the balance perfect, like 'Worcester City'. Ahh... So much forceful emotion. Definitely one of my favorites.

Her new album is groundbreaking: folk burlesque, unique sounds and ways to use her voice, personal yet accessible.

The term 'celtic' is still entirely valid if denoting a group of languages... but yes, English isn't one of them.

Celtic, celtic, blah blah. Why isn't she singing in Gaelic/Gallic/Welsh/Manx/Cornish or Breton then? Celtic is a bit of a misnoma really anyway. A load of victorian nationalist claptrack based entirely around linguistics and politics. Historically it is an unsound concept, and genetically has been proven to be rubbish. British or Irish folk inspired music might be more appropriate!
