Earlimart is actually what got me into indie music, and in a really weird way. When I was around 11 and 12, I thought I hated modern music because all I'd ever heard was mainstream junk. I listened to classical exclusively. Then, shopping with my mom in the trippy nightmareland that is Loehmann's, I came across a cute t-shirt embroidered with two bears in the rain and the strange word "Earlimart." It came with a free music download. I wasn't really interested in that, but I bought the shirt because I liked it. A few weeks later I was mindlessly surfing the Web and decided to check out the band. It was like something woke up in me. I still have that t-shirt. I wish I could say it still fit me. Maybe I'll turn it into a bag.

@Wunder_bred: Elliott Smith was Aaron's good friend and mentor, which would explain why Earlimart sounds really similar to Elliott. AND the album Treble & Tremble was a tribute to him. Make sure you know what you're talking about before you think about posting silly things.

No way in hell that they're an Elliott Smith ripoff. Screw that. Earlimart is amazingly brilliant with simple chords and lyrics. Elliott's playing style and lyrics were a bit complex for the most part and thought provoking. Aaron's voice is whispery, and perhaps that's what makes them similar. But nevertheless, both make beautiful music. :D Hymn and Her has to be the best song on the new album.
