Thanks to multicolouredb for this: "this is a plea to last fm on behalf of myself and all other Ellington admirers. We are not given a chance to appreciate Ellington properly. Duke has left a legacy which is unmatched by anyone else in popular music. Only a tiny part of this legacy is ever played on Duke Ellington radio, usually just the most recognizable radio hits of the cotton club and early forties. Please, please, please broaden the Ellington music available to listeners Only then can the listeners both old and new realise what a genius Duke was. There are a great many classic Ellington albums available, so please expand our choice." Hardly likely that www.lastfm read this but it is worth a go.

This is life affirming. The sequence following the startling rapid bursts at the end of the solo may be the most atmospheric section of recorded music.

Great music from a master of his craft. I attended a D. E concert when he was nearing the end of his illustrious career. He was brilliant to the end.
