I'll listen to each (until I get bored), and decide if it's a good recommendation or not ;-)
Recommended Songs (sorted by most recommended songs)
PRIDE : HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR (Score = 220.04) - Honestly, I really dislike this song. The singer was pretty good at first but then she tried hitting a few notes that sound out of her range. Whatev - happens a lot. BUT THEN the "rapping" guy came out and instantly killed it.
Doubt & Trust : access (Score = 177.24) - Love it! Being that I'm a HUGE T.M.R. fan, it's no surprise that I'd like an access song though, is it? Upbeat but still totally moody, this song has "me" written all over it!
Ash Like Snow : the brilliant green (Score = 156.71) - Good, but it's not going to make me a big fan of the band. At least I like the vocalist and the video is great. These guys have been around forever so they've definitely had time to polish their craft. I'll give them that.
COLORS : Flow (Score = 152.86) - Really liked this one. It satisfies that hidden KinKi Kids obsession of mine without being a "flavor of the week" boy band. I love the vocal pairing, I really hope these guys continue on to be a big success!
PAPERMOON : Tommy heavenly6 (Score = 139.91) - I really dislike Tommy heavenly6 so I wish this wasn't so high on the list. I don't like this song any more than their other songs I've heard. In fact, the only part that I can barely find listenable is the chorus. I won't be listening again.
Hitomi no Tsubasa : access (Score = 137.62) - We already know I'm an access fan, so chances are high that I'd like anything of their's on this list. Honestly, everything about this song sounds exactly like a T.M.R. song, even the singer(!!) - EXCEPT the chorus, which is terrific, catchy, upbeat, smooth, and gives access an identity outside of T.M.R.'s shadow. Okay, Daisuke's keytar solo was really divergent too. This is definitely going to be listened to again - the chorus seals the deal for me. *added to library
Namida No Mukou : Stereopony (Score = 136.92) - Not my thing. I think it's quite good/well-done, but I don't like it. I really don't like female vocals. Never heard of the band, but they seem to have actual talent, which I give them credit for that. Next.
Rolling star : YUI (Score = 133.58) - Uuuuugh! No. No. No. This is what makes me hate Asain female vocals - the idea that it's "cute" to be ear-piercing and delicate. Fine, I get it, it's a cultural thing, but it's not something I like at all. Plus, the few seconds that I could make it through sounds just like a jangly pop rock tune I could find on any radio station in the Midwest. Will this thing stop assuming that all I want to hear is anime intros? X(
JUST COMMUNICATION : TWO-MIX (Score = 132.35) - This is more like it. A deep house dance song with some really decent female vocals. I like this a lot, despite being another anime track. *added to library
O2 : ORANGE RANGE (Score = 131.11) - Another anime song. *sigh* I don't like this, but that's not surprising. I've heard a few other ORANGE RANGE tunes and they just didn't stick with me. There are moments where I like them/this song, but overall I have to take a pass.
Friends : Stephanie (Score = 130.37) - Another anime song with female vocals. This is b.s., this recommendation thing doesn't know me at all! Does it realize I listen to more than Japanese stuff, let alone more than alt rock crap? *sigh* There is literally nothing about this song that appeals to me, so why is it so high on the list? Moving on..
SNOW KISS : nirgilis (Score = 128.72) - Yet another pop rock anime opening with female vocals. At least this one was interesting, but not enough to make me listen to the whole song, let alone ever again.
again : YUI (Score = 127.18) - skipped.
RHYTHM EMOTION : TWO-MIX (Score = 125.77) - This was ok. I was glad to hear something other than obnoxious alt rock, but this didn't do much for me. It really sounded like an anime song..... and it is :-\
YOU : YURIA (Score = 124.38) - The only thing I liked was the melody of the chorus, but the vocals prevented me from listening to it more than once. Next.
Shangri-La : angela (Score = 123.63) - This was ok. I like that the woman sings like a woman, not a space-munchkin. Not bad for what it is, but I'm not going to listen to it again.
I Wanna Go to a Place... : Rie fu (Score = 123.58) - Skipped based on the fact that it's another poppy-cutesy chick and "PRIDE" by H&MC was listened as a similar track. Granted, T.M.R.'s "ignited" was also listed, but even that could make me listen to it.
Pray : Tommy heavenly6 (Score = 123.27) - Skipped.
Red fraction : MELL (Score = 123.01) - This is great!! Now we're talkin'! Very original, dark, interesting, melodic, and female vocals that don't hover in a range only dogs and aliens can hear. *added to library
WORLD END : Flow (Score = 116.71) - Liked it, but not as much as the previous FLOW song. This sounds more like a rock band with a couple of singers, rather than a vocal group. It's good, but there's too much just like this already.
Undo : COOL JOKE (Score = 116.67) - Well, this is getting closer anyway. The singer is incredibly monotone and tries too hard to be Gackt. Which it's is okay to emulate a great musician, just don't make it so obvious.
Uso : SID (Score = 111.9) - WIN! I like SID but don't listen to them much. This song just might change that, putting them up in the realm of Janne da Arc, GLAY, and Luna Sea on my list. This song has everything that I love about Japanese modern rock. *added to library!
ALONES : Aqua Timez (Score = 111.36) - I thought I liked Aqua Timez but I really disliked this song! Just as the SID song above embodies everything I love about Japanese rock, this song takes the cake for everything I dislike that's coming out of the Land of the Rising Sun. Sorry, AT, maybe next timez.
Tori no Uta : Lia (Score = 107.04) - Meh. Good, but not great. Nice vocals, good use of techno sounds, nice melody, not incredibly original.
Strength. : abingdon boys school (Score = 106.18) - Wait, what? How is this NOT in my library already??????? I have every a.b.s. son---- Oh, I forgot the "." in the title -d'oh- Well, since Takanori (and everything he touches or breaths on) is made of EPIC WIN in my books, then of course it's *added to library
My Pace : SunSet Swish (Score = 103.8) - Original, but no thanks.
Obsession : See-Saw (Score = 101.39) - Pretty good, but nothing to write home about. I didn't hate it, but I won't be listening again.
I Will : Sowelu (Score = 101.18) - Whoa, not even close! I totally can't stand a hip-hop influence unless it's RAIN. Thanks, Next.
Beautiful Fighter : angela (Score = 100.69) - This is pretty cool! A nice Malice Mizer-esque intro and then onto epic vocals and a GREAT video :-) I like everything about it! Reminds me of Onmyouza. *added to library
God Knows... : Aya Hirano (Score = 100.56) - More of the same boring chicky pop-rock. Pass.
Dive to World : CHERRYBLOSSOM (Score = 99.19) - I think I have a cavity now from all the ultra-sugary crap in this song. Pass.
sakura : nirgilis (Score = 98.95) - Nope. The intro had promise but the over-the-top operatic vocals coupled with the bouncy rock voice is so dichotomous as to be supremely annoying. Next.
Aozora no Namida : Hitomi Takahashi (Score = 97.81) - Oh this song, I know this. Each time Blood + comes on, I find myself thinking, "I kinda like this song" and then it gets stuck in my head. That's a good sign. The singer doesn't come off as pretentious or pretending to be something she's not, which is a nice change. *added to library
Silly-Go-Round : FictionJunction YUUKA (Score = 96.83) - I've been meaning to check out these FictionJunction things, but have also been reluctant knowing how much I dislike female vocals. Yep, I still dislike them. Next.
Ichirin no Hana : HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR (Score = 96.38) - This might have worked out for me, but alas it was the drummer this time that killed it for me. And the male vocalist trying to sound like every other Western douchbag on the Top 40 Alt Rock charts. ugh...
I'm stopping here. This list isn't giving me much, and there's something on the Discovery Channel that I'd rather watch. Maybe I'll get back to this, not that anyone is going to read it :p
