Dr. Dog é uma banda de rock psicodélico de Filadélfia , Pensilvânia. Sua formação consiste atualmente de Toby Leaman (baixo), McMicken Scott (guitarra), Frank McElroy ( guitarra ritmo ), Zach Miller (teclado), e Eric) Calmo (bateria. Os vocais são divididos entre Leaman e McMicken, com todos os membros que contribuem harmonias . Além disso, cada membro da banda tem um apelido , e eles explicaram que os amigos da banda também recebem apelidos, que são retirados os aspectos de suas vidas e personalidades (Ex-membro Andrew Jones, por exemplo, é um advogado licenciado).

A versão da banda de pop-rock é fortemente influenciada por bandas dos anos 1960. Suas primeiras gravações mostram influência do lo-fi de som e sensibilidade pop de bandas de indie rock da década de 1990, como Guided By Voices e Pavement . Álbuns recentes têm apresentado uma produção mais polida.

    id say the new album is great! it definitely is lacking with its lyrics and genre changing variety they had on the previous ones, but it has enough hits for me to be satisfied! seeing how they are playing with new sounds on this album shows that it just didnt work very well for a good half of the songs on the album. but hey im all for not making the same record over again so sometimes making these risks are nessesary!

    It deeply pains me to admit that the new album is weak. I don't know, something about those drums, and the doo wop has turned into just a faint and low sound. Their worst album, for sure. Still, some of the lyrics are still a-ok, Scott rhymes are fairly good.

    I have given up hope that they will ever make another album as good as Fate. With that being said, Be the Void is a huge improvement after Shame, Shame. Some of the tracks are really good.
