O nada sutil Deströyer 666, de Melbourne, Austrália, se originou como um projeto solo de black metal do criativamente apelidado K. K. Warslut (também conhecido como Keith Destroyer, ex-membro dos satanistas pioneiros estilo “Ozzy” do Bestial Warlust). Seguindo a gravação solo de “Violence Is the Prince of This World”, de 1995, os membros adicionais Shrapnel (guitarra), Bullet Eater (baixo, também conhecido como Phil Gresik pela fama do Hobbs’ Angel of Death e do Bestial Warlust), e Ballistic Howitzer (bateria) foram recrutados para a banda para o segundo trabalho “Unchain the Wolves”… , de 1997, que foi quando o Deströyer 666 também adotou o esperto slogan: “Australian and Antichrist”. Três anos se passaram antes da banda finalizar seu terceiro álbum, “Phoenix Rising”, que misturou elementos mais retumbantes de thrash metal / death metal, que chamou grande atenção, sendo seu primeiro lançamento internacional pelo selo Season Of Mist. O mesmo aconteceu com “Cold Steel… For An Iron Age”, mas depois do EP do ano seguinte “Terror Abraxas”, o Deströyer 666 parecia ter perdido um pouco de gás, e ainda não gravou nada novo.

Their whole discography is great, but I agree with warcommand- and Hiekkiz, their first full-length is brilliant. I also like "Violence is the Prince of this World" a lot. It reminds me of Bestial Warlust at times (which is always a good thing, and in fact not that surprising), a bit more melodic and less brutal though.
