Sultan - November 2009 updates

In the highly challenging world of Djs and producers, the name Sultan is one that has made its mark and is here to stay. Launching his international career in 2003 with the release of four of his original productions on “Global Underground 25, Toronto mixed by Deep Dish”, Sultan has continued to impress not only as a producer but also as a DJ. With releases and features on world renown labels and compilations including Yoshitoshi, Shinichi, Bedrock, Tiesto’s “In Search of Sunrise 4”, Paul Oakenfold’s Creamfields, Dave Seaman’s “Renaissance Masters”, Deep Dish’s “George Is On”, Sharam’s “Global Underground 29: Dubai” and Armin van Buuren’s ASOT amongst may others, Sultan continues to evolve and set musical trends in the dance scene today.

Interview with STEVEN LEE of Lee Cabrera

While getting his first taste in the business at the infamous Strictly Rhythm it wasn’t long before Mr. Lee found himself a home with the label both as a DJ mixing their famous compilations but also as a signed artist at SR with the legendary Albert Cabrera forming the Lee Cabrera tag. “X surly marked the spot” with these two producers, as their first project “Reach” Lil Mo Yin Yang the remake from house dons Louie Vega and Erick Morillo was one of the biggest records in 2002 with support from Pete Tong, Deep Dish, Roger Sanchez, Steve Lawler and many more.

1. How did you get into 29? Soundgarden
I was getting into Audioslave and decided to check out the member's previous pieces of work, which along with Soundgarden, also included Rage Against the Machine, and Chris Cornell's solo album.

2. What was the first song you ever heard by 22? Audioslave
From their formation up until about 2007, I kept hearing bits of Cochise but I kept switching over whenever it came on (I still kick myself for doing that now, lol). When Audioslave were artist of the month on Xbox Live Marketplace, I downloaded the videos up, which were an interview about their last album, Revelations, and the music video for the first single, Original Fire, which is the first one I listened to in full.

3. What's your favorite lyric by 33? Rage Against the Machine
Probably "Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me!" from Killing in the Name.

4. What is your favorite album by 49? Deep Dish
George Is On, as that's the only album I have from them, lol. I did have Junk Science on my computer for a little while, but only because I wanted to listen to The Future of the Future (Stay Gold). I might download it again and listen to the entire album for once.

5. How many albums by 13 do you own? Red Hot Chili Peppers
Well I "download" 99.9% of my music, so I don't really own any of them. :P I do have every single one of their albums in my collection though, along with the singles Soul to Squeeze, and Fortune Faded

6. What is your favorite song by 50? Good Charlotte
Dance Floor Anthem.

7. Is there a song by 39 that makes you sad? Queens of the Stone Age
Haven't found one yet. The only song that moves any part of my emotions would be Make It Wit Chu.

8. What is your favorite song by 15? The Rasmus
I'm gonna have to follow the herd here and say In the Shadows.

9. What is your favorite song by 5? Linkin Park
Ooh, not sure. There isn't really a track from them that I love way more than the rest. I'm gonna go with Breaking the Habit.

10. Is there a song by 6 that makes you happy? Metallica
Sad But True. I find it almost impossible to headbang to this track when I listen to it! :)

11. What is your favorite album by 40? Innerpartysystem
Their debut, Innerpartysystem.

Goodbye for Now.

13. What is a good memory you have involving 30? The Birthday Massacre / Rammstein
Got a tie here. And I can't really think of a good memory between either of them. The best thing I can think of is staying up late one night playing Juiced 2 on the 360, while listening to TBM's Nothing and Nowhere. Gave everything a bit of a spooky edge. :)

No, not really.

Another tie, but this time there's no 25, so I've gone with the two artists at 24, and the answer to both is none. :(

Greatest Hits :D. Sorry, but I'm not completely into them. I've only got this and their newest album, Rise And Fall, Rage And Grace.

It's Rock Band-related. I remember not too long ago I finally FC'ed Tom Sawyer on the guitar. I think I've FC'ed the vocals as well. Another good "Tom Sawyer" Rock Band-related memory would be the first time I 5*'ed it on the drums, as I'm not that good at them. In fact, I haven't played them in months, because I'm using the GHWT kit, where the kick pedal is diabolical. :(

Wez G - Camembert
Camembert is made from unpasteurised cow's milk, and is ripened by the moulds Penicillium candida and Penicillium camemberti for at least three weeks. It is produced in small rounds, about 350 grams (.55 lb) in weight, which are then typically wrapped in paper and packaged in thin wooden boxes. When fresh, it is quite crumbly and relatively hard, but characteristically ripens and becomes softer and strongly flavoured as it ages.

Çoğu zaman çalışırken müzik dinlememeyi tercih etmesem de, aslında sadece doğru türü dinlemediğim için, her zaman dinlediğim bir müzik sesini sadece kısıyor ve akabinde kapatıyorum.

Son zamanlarda yoğun ve çeşitli çalışma disiplinlerinde tırmaladığım için müzik olmadan olmuyor. Bir şekilde bunu gidermek adına bilgisayarımdaki arşivimden kesinlikle uzak duruyor ve last.fm e sığınıyorum. Yine de pek sevdiğim ada müziğinden ve türevlerinden uzak duruyorum. Konsantrasyon diye bir şey kalmıyor keza.

Tasarım konsepti üzerine kasarken genelde daha hareketli türler dinliyorum. Tercihim çoğunlukla house ve progressive house oluyor. Zira en stresli ve yoğun süreçte biraz da olsa hareket katmış oluyor.

İş daha çok uygulama tarafına geldiğinde ise trip-hop, ambient ve chillout daha fazla işe yarıyor.

Tabi bunların tümü bir şekilde radyo kültürü içerisinde olmalı. Arşivimde onlarca kez dinlediğim bir şarkı olmamalı. Olunca da geçiyorum zaten.
