Death in June é um projeto de neofolk concebido pelo músico inglês Douglas Pearce, também conhecido como Douglas P. O projeto nasceu na Grã-Bretanha em 1981 como um trio, mas após a saída de alguns membros em 1985, o grupo passou a contar com vários colaboradores esporádicos. Atualmente Douglas Pearce vive na Australia.
Durante as duas décadas de existência, Death in June teve diversas variações em seu estilo e apresentação, resultando numa mudança drástica do pós-punk com influências industriais do início para um folk sombrio mais acústico. Mesmo que por vezes seja considerado controverso (em grande parte por freqüentemente utilizar temas e imagens referentes ao nazismo germânico), Death in June se tornou muito influente em certos círculos músicais pós-industriais. A influência de Douglas P. no nascimento do neofolk foi instrumental, e sua música subsequentemente se tornou parte do gênero.
Vários filmes, programas de tv e poetas são influência para Death in June, incluindo Nietzsche e Saxon.

I found the rule of thirds quite underwhelming... some melodies aren't that strong, some of them even a bit cliche (there´s only a number of songs you can play using roughly the same simple chords)... I don't know, it failed to impress me, and I must say that I am a fairly old di6 fan... all pigs must die, on the other hand, is filled with the kind of feelings that drew me to them back in the day... I am not saying that trot is a bad album, all I'm saying is that I don't like it that much...

The Rule of Thirds grows on you, it is very raw and stripped back Di6. All Pigs Must Die was full of bitter rage a bombardment of instruments and in latter half noise, TRoT is that same douglas except now sounds like he, despite having not forgotten the anger, is at peace. At least geographically, living in Fort Nada (Adelaide, Australia), he is quite removed from all the drama of the past and I think this is reflected in minimalist sound of TRoT.

I liked All Pigs Must Die, I found The Rule of Thirds boring though. Still, this is probably what happens when you overindulge in a neo-folk group and listen to all their albums at once.

So I've just raided my local record store for all their Death In June records. They're getting 'All Pigs Must Die' and 'The Rule of Thirds' in towards the start of November. I've heard nothing by bad words on them. Do you recommend them, or are they just THAT bad?

it feels similar in tone to the albums with Boyd Rice (sort of ambient-ish folk I guess). I know some of the lyrics are recycled (Hail The White Grain and Punishment Initiation) but I don't recognise some of the others. I always found it a really odd release, i'd like to know more about it.
