love this one to bits, never get tired of it. the blend of what was to become the unique dead can dance sound with these heavy post punk influences works just sooo well!

Someone asked why this album was so different (down below). Simple: It was their first album - their first introduction to the world via 4AD records, after moving from Australia to England. Naturally/usually (back in the 80's) in order to "catch the eye" (or ear) of a record label for the first time meant that you had to present something with parts/style sof music during that time. 1983/84 (production time) was heavily saturated by some influences of of that timing: The Cocteau Twins, The Cure, even Robin Guthrie. Hence the noticable use of guitar in this album compared to the rest of their works which exhibit more fusions with their worldly feel. (Personally, the opening track of this album got me hooked when the album was released: "The Fatal Impact")

Again, a very distinctive record. Even early DCD was sounding different from other clumsy goffik chok.

I played this album so much back in the 80's I wore down the grooves. I had to have that mask on the cover! Since I'm an artist and had access to a foundary, I sculpted my own version in clay and cast it in bronze.
