Dez 9 2010, 17h03 por SailOn7978. Scar Tissue - Red Hot Chili Peppers
This is my favourite Chili's track - so cool and laidback. Makes you feel like you should be on a roadtrip...
977.Dance, Dance - Fall Out Boy
Again, not really a fan of this but as pop rock goes it's ok....Personally I would not have put this song in the top 1000 of all time
976.The Man Who Sold the World - David Bowie
Bowie doing what he does best - eerie, dramatic, strange. From the first album of his (of the same name) that I ever heard and it always astounds me to think that its 40 years old...
975. Slow Hands - Interpol
Supposedly post-punk this is a great guitar track with a sinister ambiance and bittersweet lyrics.
974. What's My Age Again? - blink-182
I adore this song; it's so fun and the lyrics are just commical. Obviously tounge in cheek like a lot of blink-182 stuff - to quote the song "no-one should take themselves so seriously..."
973. The Scientist - Coldplay

Jan 30 2010, 11h26 por EncouragingSlugToday was the inaugural Slug Jam - regular casual jam sessions for musical escapists. The following founding slug jammers braved the sweltering conditions of "the shed":
EncouragingSlug - acoustic guitar
jonesp9 - acoustic guitar
ratboy27 - SG electric guitar
M - keyboard, percussion, Casio beats
everyone - vox
First up was a mellow sing-along number:
This was hobbled by half the group being unfamiliar with the track, but future potential is there.
Next up, straight up Aussie rock A E D E paradise:
Run to Paradise
Instant gratification, but does it have staying power?
More Aussie rock, progressing through the ages:
Buy Me A Pony
A tough one to sing, but fun. Need to get the beats happening as well.
At some stage we had a half-hearted go at this classic Rage tune:
I really think acoustic RATM could work, with some effort.
"It's gotta start somewhere, what better place than here? What better time than now?" summed up the day.

Since I recently heard Guns Of Brixton covered by The Arcade Fire I am wondering if there are other great covers out there, I haven't heard of before. First off my usual suspects:
1. All Along the Watchtower by Jimi Hendrix. Even better than the original from Bob Dylan. I think I'll take this one as the 'original' cover. The Golden Standard by which I'll measure all others that are to come!
2. Hallelujah. The original by Leonard Cohen is indeed very good, but I think we can all agree here that Jeff Buckley made his version the ultimate one, much the same as Jimi did with Dylan's song. On the 'all along the watchtower' scale, this is almost a perfect ten. Let's say 9.5.
3.Johnny Cash. Yes indeed, everybody knows off course which track I'm going for now: Hurt. Honestly, I've yet to hear the original version by Nine Inch Nails, but it just can't be any better than this. You can literally feel the man's pain coming through your speakers!. 9.5, because ten is for that perfect cover I'm still waiting for. …
