this song recalls to me the early days of the dave matthews band, when they played at trax and they hadn't become superstars and mega-personalities. this was when they knew they had something special, but they were still carving it out. they had a sound that few people i knew could name or label. it was unique. this tune was a standard of theirs for a few years. they would play it at every show, and it's hypnotic beat, combined with the images of caravans and deserts, oases and belly dancers, tobacco smoke and strong coffee... would put us in a trance. it wasn't one of their happier tunes, but to look at carter smiling and feeling every 16th note on the hi-hat and every flick of the wrist on the snare... you'd believe that nothing but positivity came out of this band. they were a fun band, around which formed a very fun scene, albeit trendy at times, with the stereotypical frat-boy-sorority-girl chatter that went on non-stop. now, they've evolved into something...
