    Jan 2 2010, 21h32 por Sekir

    Adagio - Archangels in Black
Chris Caffery - House of insanity
    Lacrimosa - Sehnsucht
Domain - The Chronicles Of Love, Hate And Sorrow
Dream Theater - Black Clouds & Silver Linings
Narnia - Course Of A Generation
Sons of Seasons - Gods of Vermin
    Stratovarius - Polaris

    Porcupine Tree - The Incident

    Xerath - I

YOTANGOR - King of the Universe
Altar Of Oblivion - Sinews of Anguish
Animals as Leaders - Animals As Leaders
Savage Blade -We are The Hammer
Children - Hard Times Hanging At the End of the World
Fractal Gates - Altered State of Consciousness
    Bann - Æschatologia
    Oranssi Pazuzu - Muukalainen Puhuu
The Isosceles Project - Oblivion’s Candle
    T3CHN0PH0B1A - Grave New World

    Einheit Produktionen

    hard rock 2009
    Chickenfoot- Chickenfoot

    The Answer - Everyday Demons
Europe - Last Look At Eden
    Gotthard - Need To Believe
    Jorn - Spirit Black
    KISS - Sonic Boom
Lynyrd Skynyrd - God And Guns
    Vengeance - Soul Collector
    Winger - Karma

    aor 2009
    Danger Danger - Revolve

Hardline - Leaving The End Open
Place Vendome - Streets of Fire
    Sunstorm - HOUSE OF DREAMS
Voices Of Rock - Voices Of Rock II
    W.E.T. - W.E.T.

    heavy metal 2009
Heaven & Hell - The Devil You Know

    Nightmare - Insurrection
Grave Digger - Ballads Of A Hangman
Herman Frank - Loyal To None
Primal Fear - 16.6 (Before The Devil Knows You're Dead)
Tim "Ripper" Owens - Play My Game
    U.D.O. - Dominator
    Wolf - Ravenous
Savage Blade - We are The Hammer
    Amorphis - Skyforger

    Power Metal 2009
Cain's Offering - Gather The Faithful

Alestorm - Black Sails at Midnight
    Brainstorm - Memorial Roots
Gwyllion - The Edge of All I Know
    Krusader - Angus
    Rebellion - Arise
    Invictus - Persecution
    Leverage - Circus Colossus

    symphonic power metal 2009
Powerwolf - Bible of the Beast

    Celesty - Vendetta
    Delain - April Rain
    Saint Deamon - Pandeamonium
    Sphinx -

    symphonic metal 2009
    Epica - Design Your Universe

    Epica - The Classical Conspiracy
    Therion - The Miskolc Experience
    Wildpath - Non Omnis Moriar
    Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Night Castle
Pythia - Beneath The Veiled Embrace

    gothic metal 2009
    Elis - Catharsis

Ava Inferi - Blood of Bacchus
    Krypteria - My Fatal Kiss
Stream of Passion - The Flame Within
    Sirenia - The 13th Floor
Trail of Tears - Bloodstained Endurance

    progressive metal 2009
    Anubis Gate - The Detached

Guilt Machine - On This Perfect Day
    Pathosray - Sunless Skies
Redemption - Snowfall On Judgment Day
    Spheric Universe Experience - Unreal
Týr - By the Light of the Northern Star
Freak Kitchen - Land of the Freaks

    progressive power metal 2009
Voyager - I Am the Revolution

    DGM - Frame
    Hangar - Infallible

    Dark Prog 2009
Children - Hard Times Hanging At the End of the World

    Fjoergyn - Jahreszeiten
    Madder Mortem - Eight Ways

    instrumental metal 2009
Chimp Spanner - At the Dream's Edge

crow'sclaw - Blacker Than The Blackest Black
Ethan Brosh - Out Of Oblivion
    Marty Friedman - TOKYO JUKEBOX
    Psychostatus - Chains Of Life
The Isosceles Project - Oblivion’s Candle
Thousand Leaves - GODS / Daydream
Ryashon - The Stone Of Triumph

    jazz metal 2009
Diablo Swing Orchestra - Sing-Along Songs For the Damned and Delirious

"Let's Swing" -

Amogh Symphony - Abolishing the obsolete system
Ephel Duath - Through My Dog's Eyes
    Exivious - Exivious
Stinking Lizaveta - Sacrifice And Bliss

    progressive rock 2009
dredg - The Pariah, The Parrot, The Delusion

    Saga - The Human Condition
    IQ - Frequency
Them Crooked Vultures - Them Crooked Vultures

    Thrash Metal 2009
    Megadeth - Endgame

    Artillery - When Death Comes
    Paradox - Riot Squad
    Warbringer -Waking Into Nightmares
    Kreator - Hordes of Chaos
    Slayer - World Painted Blood
    Zigoku Quartet -

    death metal 2009
    Miseration - The Mirroring Shadow

    Dethklok - Dethalbum II
    Ex Deo - Romulus
Hypocrisy - A Taste Of Extreme Divinity

    melodic death metal 2009
    Dark Age - Acedia

Eternal Tears of Sorrow - Children of the Dark Waters
Fear Of Domination - Call of Schizophrenia
    Manufacturer's Pride - Sound Of God's Absence
The Few Against Many - Sot

    progressive death metal 2009
    Nahemah - A New Constellation

    Be'lakor - Stone's Reach
    Augury - Fragmentary Evidence
    Carcariass - E-Xtinction
    CiLiCe - Deranged Headtrip
Fractal Gates - Altered State of Consciousness
    Hacride - Lazarus
    HDK - System Overload
    Skyfire - Esoteric
    Cormorant - Metazoa

    technical death metal 2009
    Fleshgod Apocalypse - Oracles

Gorod - Process of a New Decline
    Obscura - Cosmogenesis
    Centaurus-A - Side Effects Expected

    metalcore 2009
Darkest Hour - The Eternal Return

    DevilDriver - Pray For Villains
    Lamb of God - Wrath

    doom metal 2009
Altar Of Oblivion - Sinews of Anguish
    Candlemass - Death Magic Doom

    death doom metal2009
Black Sun Aeon - Darkness Walks Beside Me

Paradise Lost - Faith Divides Us - Death Unites Us
Swallow the Sun - New Moon
Ablaze in Hatred - The Quietude Plains
    Hanging Garden - TEOTWAWKI

    folk metal 2009
Skyclad - In The... All Together

    Korpiklaani - Karkelo
    Onmyouza - Kongoukyuubi
Saltatio Mortis - Wer Wind Sat
    Vicious Crusade - Freedom Comes

    black metal 2009
    Arckanum - ÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞ

    Master's Hammer - Mantras
    Immortal - All Shall Fall
Peste Noire - Ballade cuntre lo Anemi Francor

    pagan metal|viking metal|melodic black metal 2009
    Mistur - Attende

Black Messiah - First War of the world
    Drapsnatt - I Denna Skog
    Riger - Streyf
    Thundra -Ignored by Fear
    Vreid - Milorg

    dsbm|atmosphericblack metal|ambient black metal 2009
    Bann - Æschatologia

    Fen - The Malediction Fields
    Pensées Nocturnes - Vacuum
Wolves in the Throne Room - Black Cascade/Malevolent Grain Vinyl
Sun of the Blind - Skullreader
    Drudkh - Microcosmos

progressive black metal|avant-garde black metal 2009
    Ram-Zet - Neutralized

Blut aus Nord - Memoria Vetusta II: Dialogue With The Stars
    Klabautmann - Merkur

    psychedelic black metal 2009
Njiqahdda - Taegnuub - Ishnji Angma
    Oranssi Pazuzu -Muukalainen Puhuu

    industrial metal 2009
Epochate - Chronicles Of A Dying Era

    Deathstars - Night Electric Night
Dope Stars Inc. - 21st Century Slave
Neon Synthesis - Alchemy of Rebirth
Rammstein - Liebe ist fur allle da
    T3CHN0PH0B1A - Grave New World
    Waltari - Below Zero

    Mediæval Bæbes- Illumination
Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio - ONANI [Practice Makes Perfect]
Soner Canözer - Soner Canözer & The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra - Masalcı'nın On Beş Yılı

    TriORE - Three Hours
    Mesh - A Perfect Solution
    Assemblage 23 - Compass
    [:SITD:] - Rot
    Black League - Ghost brothel
    C-Drone-Defect - Dystopia

    Epta Astera - SALIGIA

Hurt - Goodbye To The Machine

Mik Mentor - Altar Of Oblivion
    Johnny Gioeli - Hardline
Christian Дlvestam - Miseration, The Few Against Many

    Ann Van Rooy - Gwyllion
Ann-Louice Lцgdlund - Diablo Swing Orchestra
SfinX (Miriam Elisabeth Renvеg) - Ram-Zet

Kip Winger - соло года - TocarWitness
    Joe Bonamassa
    Marty Friedman

    Thibaut Gerard - Kalisia

Cornelius "Wombo" Heck - Finsterforst -
Gene Hoglan - Dethklok, Mechanism, Tenet

Frontiers

Neal Schon - guitar (acoustic and electric), vocals
    Steve Perry - lead vocals
Jonathan Cain - keyboards, vocals, rhythm guitar
Steve Smith - drums and percussion
    Ross Valory - bass, vocals

    10.Wolfmother - Cosmic Egg

    9.Amesoeurs - Amesoeurs

    8.Fairyland - Score To A New Beginning

    7.Mastodon - Crack The Skye

    Sólstafir - Köld

    6.Ghost Brigade - Isolation Songs

5.Animals as Leaders - Animals As Leaders

    4.Persefone - Shin-Ken

    3.Kalisia - Cybion

2.YOTANGOR - King of the Universe

    1.Finsterforst - Zum Tode Hin

  • A volta de Danger Danger

    Out 24 2009, 1h23 por vanroses

O disco inicia com a certeira "That's What I'm Talking About". Uma mistura de sonoridades de "Screw It!" com "The Return Of The Great Gildersleeves" (respectivamente lançados em 1991 e 2000).
Grande!
A belíssima "Never Give Up" segue a sonoridade clássica do Danger Danger AOR/Melodic Rock. Preste atenção no baixo nesta canção.

  • Newest Album Reviews

This week i've slotted out a couple of NWOBHM reviews, and a couple heavy ones for good measure. first up is Streetfighter 's Crazy Dream (EP), a NWOBHM offering let down with a lame title track. Up next is Welsh NWOBHMers Y Diawled's first single . Another NWOBHM review is for Stormtrooper's Pride Before a Fall single - an early (1980) release showing professionalism and promise. Next up is Glam/NWOBHM act Touched's 2nd album - Deathrow - a rather poor follow up to their decent debut. The last NWOBHMer is the excellent Tysondog single Eat The Rich. My final review was for US power/heavy metal band Wyzard.

to read any of the reviews, simply type Deathriderdoom into the search bar on http://www.metal-archives.com/ , and then select "User" from the drop down menu. avaiable will be all the reviews listed in my previous journal entry. Hope they are of use or enjoyable, and remember to get writing yourself! Heavy Metal Thunder

Newest approved album reviews as of 17/06/09

Hi there folks, just a quick update of my newest reviews up on MA. My two newest include Welsh NWOBHMers Stormqueen's 1980 debut demo - released independently the same year as NWOBHM juggernauts Angel Witch Iron Maiden and Def Leppard released their debuts. A killer NWOBHM offering, somewhat simlar to Angel Witch's sound. The second one is for little known AOR/NWOBHM act Clientelle's 1985 demo. These guys were a unique sounding NWOBHM act out of Hatfield, Hertfordshire, who were unable to achieve much succes, with their only full-length failing to get them much attention, in the at the time overflowing NWOBHM market. This demo was their last attempt at securing a record deal, but sadly was unsuccessful. Anyway, hope the reviews are helpful, and as always, you can post feedback about em here i guess. NWOBHM forever.

    Couple of my Latest Reviews

Today i have i couple more for ya. A review of US metal band Ded Engine's 1983 debut single. These guys sound similar to an early Armored Saint, though not as good. a grimy, but rather dull offering. Next up is a review for two tracks from Krokus' most AC/DC sounding album yet - One Vice at a Time from the single Long Stick Goes Boom a strong, yet overly ACDC sounding outing. The final one is an depth look at The follow-up album to Krokus' landmark 1983 offering Headhunter, the album The Blitz, released in 1984. This album marks a departure from the heavy, speed metal approach taken on Headhunter, to more of a pop-orientated sound - incredibly polished and well written album. Last up is a review for the legendary Jack Starr's 80's melodic heavy metal act Burning Starr. The album in question is their solid, and Scorpionsesque debut Rock The American Way. well worth a listen if you're into the melodic stuff.

well, hope you give em a read, and perhaps even get inspired to write your own. and long live heavy metal!

More NWOBHM reviews - get some new bands!

Dragster, not to be confuse with the gay punk, and pop rock acts of the same name, were an unknown NWOBHM act that took the same approach to the genre as bands like Saxon, with heavy sounding guitars and drums, mixed with a focus on catchy and melodic choruses. Their best of album was issued in 1999 and contains all of their known material - a good choice if you like finding new NWOBHM acts. the review is available on their page on www.www.metal-archives.com

Legendary British speed metallers Tröjan releases a string of demos, which finally resulted in a full-length official offering in 1985. The album Chasing The Storm is an excllent blend of NWOBHM chorus focused melodies, and thrilling speed metal aggression. This one is often regarded as a hidden gem of mid 80's metal. check out the review, which should be up shortly - at http://www.metal-archives.com and remember - metal will never die!

    Newest reviews:

Riot is a legendary and pioneering early metal band. They evolved from one of the hardest, fastest bands of the 70's into speed/power metal gods in the 1980s. Often revered for their 1987 albumThundersteel this band had a string of great earlier works. no better sampling of their earlier work is available than their 1982 single "Outlaw". Check it out and youll be hooked. Review is up on metal-archives.

Rhabstallion has to be the most awesome completely unknown NWOBHM act ever. a review of their excellent 1994 re-release of 80's material is up on MA. Amazing album. Another NWOBHM review this week is on Savage's single "Ain't No Fit Place" - two cuts from their legendary and critically acclaimed Loose 'n' Lethal. Great, heavy NWOBHM

On another note; Tyga Myra was another Brtish speed metal band. They formed during end of the NWOBHM period and released only one full-length. A review is available on MA

This Weeks Album Reviews, Let's Go

i've been meaning to review London's More for a while. Catchy tunes here from the debut album of one of the "more" succesful NWOBHM acts (for a period). More were snapped up by Atlantic Records - and it shows with this interesting blend of poppy melody, and heaviness. Warhead is a fun, recommendable NWOBHM outing.

In additon, i've also taken the time to review W.A.S.P.'s classic VHS offering "Videos...In the Raw" - an excellent, and totally fun collection of interviews, clips and live footage released in the late 80's. check it out.

Saracen is an amazing unique nwobhm band which combines elements of 70's early heavy metal and doom, progressive rock like Pink Floyd and other influences to craft en epic, power metallic tinged nwobhm/rock sound. their debut album is a masterpiece. check out the review on http://www.metal-archives.com/ for more!

a couple more for you NWOBHM fans:

Jaguar is a melodic rock/NWOBHM band with some similarity to American 80's AOR acts like Night Rangerconey hatch etc. their 2nd album is awesome if you like AOR - well written, besting many bands that attempted the style.

Legendary NWOBHMers Tokyo Blade are still regarded as one of the best NWOBHM acts ever to appear in the 80's. Their breakthrough single Powergame hailed them in as one of the most energetic, guitar driven bands of the time. If you like Iron Maidenish riffage in your NWOBHM - check out their early works.

Maxx Warrior were an unknown heavy/glam metal band active in the mid 80's. Their only release to date -a self titled EP (1986) is an awesome blend of fast enbergetic mid 80's metal and early 80's Motely Crue/LA Glam sound. Think Shout at the Devil, or Too Fast For Love.

geez, i haven't updated this in a wee while, but hewre goes: Saxon's offerings after their early 80's hayday, but before their awesome resurgence post-2000 are often overlooked. we must remember though, that Saxon is an unstoppable juggernaut that will not relent. During their middle period, they continued to put out quality. 1992's Forever Free is a solid offering with an awesome title track. the review is available on http://www.metal-archives.com/

Damascus was the name of 2 NWOBHM bands. the one from Liverpool released a nice little EP in 1984 titled Open Your Eyes. This EP was rich in 70's influences like Thin Lizzy, Uriah Heep etc, and centred around a very strong, driving title track. a NWOBHM outing worth a listen.

This week i also have a series of reviews up for obscure NWOBHM singles. These include offerings from bands such as Driveshaft, china doll, Demon Pact and others. Check these out if you're after some more classic NWOBHM.

Gaskin were a softer edged, rock band that were part of the NWOBHM in the early/mid 80's. Ive had their release No Way Out for quite some time and decided to get a review up. Their sound is an interesting mix of classic NWOBHM, with a Whitesnake sorta feel at times.

    This Week's Reviews-----

To kick things off this week, we head to Wales, where NWOBHM act Tredegar hailed from. Though they only released one full length, they aslo recorded another, which was unreleased (1991). Their 1994 best of disc includes both full-lengths and all recorded materials. read the review on the band's page at http://www.metal-archives.com/

Exises were a dutch heavy/progressive metal band formed in 1984. Their self titled release came out in 1987. It has a sound with some similarity to M.A.R.S., Leatherwolf, or classic Queensryche - though perhaps not quite as arresting as the aforementioned bands.

Roxcity, the shortlived Canadian AOR band released only one EP before dismantling. It has a sound with elements similar to Boston,Coney Hatch,Night Ranger at times, though not as majestic and powerful as these acts. howeve, the EP is worth a listen, if only for the track, "Night Child in the Sky"

Keep an eye out for more extremely obscure NWOBHM single reviews continuing my growing series in this vein. next up will be a review of the band Cryer, which later changed their name to Force(UK). Find the reviews on http://www.metal-archives.com/

I have also done breif, simple review of Kuni's debut album Masque - a powerful album that matches the virtousic skill of Kuni (he's similar to a Japanese Vinnie Moore,Paul Gilbert or Micheal Angelo Batio) with a sound that sometimes approaches Zar,DokkenRacer X, or even Riot. a great debut album really worth checking out if you like 80's melodic heavy metal.

Presence was a melodic heavy metal/hard rock band from France in the 1980's. Their only album was Rock Your Life. An interesting sound is evidenced; pieces of Danger Danger,Night Ranger,Dokken,Fisc and others could be found in their sound for comparison. The review can be found on the bands page on http://www.metal-archives.com/

This Weeks Reviews 6 July 2009

My first review for this week is a quick despcriptive write up of Spanish band Panzer's sophomore album. This early/mid 80's offering sounds very much steeped in NWOBHM, with many of the classic Spanish elements added into the mix. A decent bands that holds its own aongside Ñu and Barón Rojo.

This Weeks Reviews 13 July 2009

Colombian 80's rockers Carbure and titans of powerthrash Fatal Violence, with their excellent Best Of album.

I have finally got round to writing a review of NWOBHM/Prog rockers Saracen's sophomore full length album, titled Change Of Heart. In this album they shorten the songs a bit, but still deliver a strong mix of various influences and brilliant song writing. The review is available on metal archives.

    November, 2009

My latest review is a quick, shoddy description of epic Canadian power metal band Icewind's only full length offering. it can be found on the band's page on MA

4th place in MA review comp. will still continue to review obscure albums. speed metal fans who haven't heard of Finnish band Loud Crowd would be well advised to read my review of their album Guardians available on www.metal-archives.com/review.php?id=29240

    Tuesday, 15 December, 2009

Couple of new reviews. Death Mask is a pretty decent US speed metal band. they released only the one album in 1986, but it's a bit of a classic. check out my review of it here www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=24015 My other latest review is for legendary cult glam metal band London. These guys were an LA band that at one time or another featured members from Cinderella W.A.S.P. and motley crue, amongst others. The album [release]don't cry wolf[/release] is their best effort - this is absolutely essential glam, and i'd vote it one of the top 25 glam albums ever made. check out the review here: www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=3540283992

Getting back into reviewing at the moment; gotta say though, i'd probably write more if i had a nice desk to sit at. anyhow, here's a couple of the latest reviews. (rember, the entire list can be found at http://www.metal-archives.com/userreviews.php?id=165461&nickname=DeathRiderDoom ). Okay, the other day i decided to review a bit of the Samson catalogue. they had a long standing career, so there's plenty of stuff there waiting to be checked out. i reviewed their debut album (featuring re-recorded versions with Bruce Dickinson) http://www.metal-archives.com/review.php?id=4815#165461, as well as their follow up, the well-regarded Head On. http://www.metal-archives.com/review.php?id=4816#165461 i aslo took the time to review what is perhaps their best single 'Riding with the Angels'. http://www.metal-archives.com/review.php?id=9113#165461 Syrus is a pretty badass, raw USPM band that released a couple demos in the 80s. their first one S-777 is decent, thuogh suffers from production. There's a few more reviews there too. Tok-io Rose is another obscure NWOBHM band that released only one single. check out the review at http://www.metal-archives.com/review.php?id=197305#165461.

    more to come!!!!

Just managed to squeeze out a couple of obscure nwobhm singles reviews. Slowtrain is yet another band from the scene to release like one single. it's actually surprisingly good. review here: metal-archives.com/release.php?id=79893 TNT (not the melodic/power metal band from Norway) was the name of a NWOBHM act as well. they released one demo, then a single on Neat records, before vanishing into obscurity. review here http://www.metal-archives.com/release.php?id=62162

  • Song Of The Day - 30th April 2009: Deliver Us

    Abr 30 2009, 20h27 por GrantRS

    Andy Timmons Band / Deliver Us / Resolution (1) / 2006

Also tagged as: Andy Timmons - TocarDeliver Us

At the moment it looks like I have to either make a considerable effort to restore some regularity to my journal posting or consign myself to just the two I've been keeping up each week, so a semi-spontaneous journal on a Thursday is called for.

I've awarded former Danger Danger guitarist Andy Timmons the SotD award a few times before, but recently thistrack has risen in my estimation to be easily my favourite track of his. Every section of this instrumental is strong enough to hang an entire song on, and Andy's tone is just superior to everyone else's. Timmons is perhaps the guitarist best placed to challenge for Joe Satriani's crown as the instrumental guitar virtuoso with the best songwriting sensibilities - in Andy's songs every note counts and the structures are clearly in evidence to all but the shortest attention span. It's not a million notes a second the whole way through like many guitarists are charicatured. Andy, in a very Satriani-like way, is confident enough to play slow and mid-paced powerful phrases with clear verse, chorus and bridge sections each, in this case and many others, as memorable as the last.

Although a 2006 release, Resolution is still Andy's most recent release. It is perhaps suggestable then that a new record may be on the way. I at least hope this is the case, but I'm unaware as to whether we should expect one this year or not.

A shout out for 2006, while I'm thinking about it, THE year for instrumental guitar in my book. A hell of a lot of fantastic instrumental releases that year.

Do any of the usual readers remember Danger Danger, by the way? No one mentioned anything last time I mentioned them, but I find it hard to believe. Bad memories that need to be surpressed perhaps?

  • THE BLUE WALL: Glam Metal

    Dez 25 2008, 21h43 por maidenhell

Glam metal (also known as pop metal, hair metal) is a term used to describe the visual style of certain heavy metal music bands that arose in the late 1970s and early 1980s in the United States. It was popular throughout the 1980s and briefly in the early 1990s, combining the flamboyant look of glam rock and playing a power-chord based hard rock musical style.
