  • Sound Off (dj Mix)

    Nov 17 2009, 5h48 por vveerrgg

I can't even pretend anymore. I've got something to say and I'm saying with the music... Rolling through tracks and shaping the mood this mix is me letting off, sounding off, and getting it out there. Techno music is stark, it's raw, its' everything that is inside and inbetween the sounds.

Layer by layer, track by track... this mix is thick with the waves of music as I've always thought it should be. Fast moving, ghostlike beats that wash over and over and over....

  • wednesday phoenix landing

    Ago 3 2008, 0h59 por mkb218

This Wednesday, August 6, I will be playing at the Phoenix Landing in Cambridge, opening up for Pat Fontes. 19+ please (why 19, anyway?). This is my first time playing at the Phoenix and I am rather excited. The address is: 512 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge, MA. Nearest public transit is Central Square on the Red Line or numerous busses. (Hint: even though a lot of 4xx busses go to 'Central Square,' that's in Lynn, not Cambridge)

As a preview for Wednesday, I packed all the records I expect to play and let them all out last night. I am still holding onto some surprises, so don't think that listening to this gets you off the hook for showing up Wednesday! There was also a pretty big pile of new stuff that came in over the past two weeks and thus the recording is a little longer than usual Playlist after the break. Enjoy!

  • I cannot take anymore Garbage.

    Dez 16 2007, 21h58 por bigsexyshaq

My name is bigsexyshaq. My name has been involved in many projects, from the outstanding "Top Ten Reasons Why Radiohead Sucks" to the even greater "Who is Kanye West REALLY?". As you can tell from the titles, the stuff I write is pretty sharp and to the point. I don't deal with nonsense. Actually, correction, I didn't deal with nonsense until riiiiiiiight NOW. THIS article will be thoroughly supporting the aesthetic ideal of nonsense. Why am I against sense? Here's a hint: Sense is a non-existant entity. If the word "sense" doesn't make sense to you, here's a better word: delusion. People are in delusion of all kinds of things, but more than anything else, they are in delusion about SENSE. What am I talking about!? Hm... I forgot myself. Well, let me trace back the details... well, my name is... bigsexyshaq... nonsense writing OH people believe that there is sense but really all there is is is NONSENSE. Nonsense only makes sense to those who can accurately conceptualize nonsense, which involves the forming of zero concepts, but instead, forming a concept of anti-concept, which is why you are not able to form a concept out of speaking. Who is speaking? I'll give you a hint: It's you! You're speaking. Bigsexyshaq wrote these words, but it is your voice who is speaking the words in your mind, and let me tell ya, there is not a SINGLE word that is being processed directly. It is just one nonsense gesture after another. Thank you for entering "Why Nonsense is More Important than CENTS" and I encourage you to continue your read. If you get tired along the way, here's a suggestion: tiredness is a logical process... realize that, and then MOVE ON TO ENTERING.

As I grow older, I realize more and more that becoming tired of logical debate is a logical process. I was recently in a debate over whether logic is necessary in music. My argument was Of course not! The soul is its own structure and any constraining structure on top of the soul will damage its imprint on the soul. What do I mean by "on top of the soul"? Take a guess. What prevents the connectivity of the universal soul? Obviously, mind structure, but not just any mind structure. Are you ready to find out why a soul may feel as if it is detached from the universal soul? Are you ready? Bob foggottum fluff gorf eef constantinople pople soaple in a Dope-Dope-Dopel. Health food stores are keeping slime business out of lime business in the passive light of the heart-covered, like a book that is covered by a grocery bag, moon. If you understood that last bit of dialogue, hopefully you understand why you understood it. Do you understand why? Take a look, a bit below the brain. It's within the thing called the body. I cannot explain to you in words where your body is, but I am sure, if you look deeply enough, you can... figure it out? No... you can understand.

In my mid-20s, I typed up streams of nonsense and submitted these outpours into a group called Gunge klahner flambottom kafloowey oowey charchum. If you look into this group, you will find seven posts by muah. I know that doesn’t seem like a prominent stash, but it is actually quite a burdensome load. These seven posts have defined the concept of writing on a large scale. The internet no longer is restrained by AIM grammar, and now, because of me, internet writing is able to cover any spectrum of expression. There is one reason for this: my mind is not restrained by structure. I am sure you are already aware that, here I am not using a structure. I usually don't use those. See, here's the problem with structures. When you USE A STRUCTURE, you are missing one major element of your consciousness... that, um... basically the TOTALITY OF YOUR CONSCIOUSNESS FROM BEGINNING TO END OF YOUR WRITING PROCESS IS COMMUNICATED TO THE READER VERBATIM? I know, sounds delusional, doesn't it? Eh... not really. Not so much. Listen to me, you're getting that command, right? I just said the words LISTEN TO ME, and you're paying attention and you had a genuine response to the words LISTEN, TO and ME, didn't you? There's proof! You always complain, "Oh, woe is me! The internet can't capture tonality! I can't express myself here!" Here’s my opinion on the subject. Tonality is a form, understand? I believe that form, RIGID. CONSTRICTING. form, is the enemy of expression. Then, reader, wouldn’t that make tonality an error in itself? Error? Tonality is a natural part of human speech. How could it be an error? Think about this, reader. Tonality blocks the expression of the formless soul, because, if you haven’t noticed, people use similar sounding tonality to express the SIMILAR forms of emotions. Now, if you take into account ALL of these similarities, the similar tonality and the similar emotions, after a while, you get a human being who is expressing the same thing in billions of diff… no, SIMILAR ways. Understand?

When I was a child, I was a prominent artist. Not artist in the sense that you think of artists… you know, repeating the same basic structure and expressing the same nuances throughout their entire career. I was not that artist, but instead, I was an artist of impermanent form. If you were to visit my apartment, in beautiful West Chester, New York. You would find the art of a young bigsexyshaq. Through the ages of 0 to 12, I produced over 500 works of visual art. These works included drawings of Daffy Duck, Bugs Bunny, myself and the Ninja Turtles. Although these are not difficult topics to produce art out of, my procedure for expressing these works is almost impossible for the standard human. All 500 works of art contained no themes rooted in any artistic concepts. To this day, I still use NO ARTISTIC CONCEPTS to make drawings of Daffy Duck, Bugs Bunny, myself and the Myself Turtles. These pieces share one thing in common, and that one thing is this. Think about me. Alright, you have it. If you haven’t noticed, you understand everything about me. </Understand>

Since the dawn of mankind, God has constantly been finding progressively better and better means to express His impermanent soul. God has recently been finding that sense is not the most convenient means to express Himself. If you were to ask God, which will win in His Evolutionary Contest, you would find that neither sense nor nonsense would win. Because think about it, reader. Nothing is wrong with either. They are just different FORMS of nonsense. I have found many times in my life that nonsense outweighs the concept of sense in emotional meaning. Feel this, reader, there are much nonsense that are extremely light and soft darkness. Think about it, the last line could not have been expressed if it were originated within the rigid confines of grammatical language. The greatest works of language are gestated out of the emotions, and the same words that created the emotions are echoed in the impressions that the language gathers. These impressions form the basis for future use of language. The future depends on innovations in language, and simply put, innovation does not happen in the mind. Innovation is a concept is an already existing concept in the mind, so how can it “happen”? Innovation would therefore have to be language that reminds you of this concept. Now, if you think very carefully about what I just said to you, I just completely negated the common delusion that meaning exists in the mind. If you are confused as to why language has meaning for you, I invite you to take a look below me, and discover that you have a body which contains a wide variety of sensations. The problem with classifying these sensations into adjectives such as “happy” and “sad” is is is is is. Pay attention. Do you? The sensations are absolutely impossible to manage with the mind. The sensations pay no mind as to how you feel about them. There is flaflakafakafa Gorf GoRgOKoRn.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deep_house
Deep house is a style of house music which fuses elements of Chicago house, 80's soul, jazz-funk and Detroit techno. The Jazz influences of deep house are most frequently brought out by sustained augmented or diminished chords which span several bars, which give the tracks a slightly dissonant feel. The use of vocals is also more common in deep house than in many other forms of house music.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electro_house
Electro house (also known as dirty house, electrotech, and often shortened to electro) is a subgenre of house music that rose to become one of the most prominent genres of electronic dance music in 2004-today. Stylistically, it combines the four to the floor beats commonly found in House music with harmonically rich analogue basslines, abrasive high-pitched leads and the occasional piano or string riff. The tempo of electro house ranges approximately from 125 to 135 bpm.
The use of the word "electro" to describe this style of modern house music is contentious, and creates an ambiguity between electro house and the 1980s electro movement, by which it was influenced.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Funky_house
House music is a style of electronic dance music that was developed by dance club DJs in Chicago in the early to mid-1980s. House music is strongly influenced by elements of the late 1970s soul- and funk-infused dance music style of disco. House music takes disco's use of a prominent bass drum on every beat and developed a new style by mixing in a heavy electronic synthesizer bassline, electronic drums, electronic effects, funk and pop samples, and reverb- or delay-enhanced vocals.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acid_house
Acid house is an electronic music-oriented subgenre of house music, which emphasizes a repetitive, hypnotic and trance-like style, with samples or spoken lines rather than sung lyrics. Acid house's characteristic electronic "squelch" sounds were developed by mid-1980s DJs who were experimenting with the Roland TB-303 electronic synthesizer-sequencer. Acid House spread to the United Kingdom, Australia and continental Europe where it was played by DJs in the early rave scene. By the late 1980s, copycat tracks and Acid House remixes brought the style into the mainstream, where it influenced other pop and dance styles

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italo_house
Piano house (often simply referred to as "Italo") is a form of house music popular in Italy, Britain and United States since the late 1980s that fuses house and Italo disco. The main musical characteristic is its use of predominantly electronic piano chords in a more lyrical (yet still "clunky") form than classic Chicago House records. The best known example is Black Box's "Ride On Time".

  • My turn to expose my eclectic score

    Mai 12 2007, 17h31 por asega

Take your top 20 artists. For each of these artists, collect the top 5 similar artists. The resulting number of unique artists is your eclectic score. If the score is small (extreme = 5) your musical preferences are very limited, and if it is large (larger than 80, extreme = 100), then you have an eclectic musical preference. You can compute your own score at http://anthony.liekens.net/pub/scripts/last.fm/eclectic.php

    My eclectic score is currently
