Jan 20 2012, 4h28 por desaparecid0These are my favorite albums of the year. I could keep tweaking it forever. I know in the next few months I'm going to find albums I missed and albums that I didn't appreciate enough, so please tell me what you think I need to check out.
Anyone who thought 2011 was disappointing for music needs to dig a bit deeper. Some major artists disappointed and complete unknowns blew up.
It's time to move on to 2012 though, so here's what I liked in 2011. If an artist had multiple, noteworthy releases I grouped them.
1. Washed Out - Within and Without
2. M83 - Hurry Up, We're Dreaming
3. Deafheaven - Roads to Judah
4. Bright Eyes - The People's Key
5. And So I Watch You From Afar - Gangs
6. James Blake - James Blake/Enough Thunder
7. Woods of Desolation - Torn Beyond Reason
8. Wolves in the Throne Room - Celestial Lineage
9. Iron & Wine - Kiss Each Other Clean
10. Nero - Welcome Reality
11. The Weeknd - House of Balloons/Thursday/Echoes of Silence
Jan 12 2012, 20h09 por alapastelWas last year´s music a proof that contemporary art and culture have entered a crisis of quality, or is it that the prevalence of this opinion just confirms the deafness of the society towards its highest achievements?
Do the most remarkable pieces of music created by artists of most unique points of view have to end as the least noticed or the hardest to get? Do they have to require more patience to be understood in comparison to the one- dimensional aggression of superficial songs? Or are these just some pseudo-intellectual excuses for the fact that marginalised music is simply boring?
Are there still artists whose goal is not just to multiply their production, attract attention and contribute to the general encouragement of narcissism? Do any of the musicians actually want to make a contribution to the development of spiritual worlds of their listeners? Or does the idea of an artist propelled with unselfish, altruistic reasons seem too ridiculous and naive in today´s world?

Splash! Mag sits down with DJ Premier to review and discuss clips from Yo! MTV Raps, Tyler the Creator, and the documentary Secondhand Sureshots. If you haven’t had a chance to check out Secondhand Sureshots, you should definitely do it ASAP.
The most surprising elements of the interview were details concering Primo’s collaboration with German MC Bushido. According to DJ Premier the vocals were changed, cuts and scratches altered, and a copy of the finished product was never supplied.
