York presents Addicted and I Need You on Armada Music

Bringing you the best of the past, rocking you today and moving you in the future, are the re-releases of the legendary York project. German producer Torsten Stenzel, the mastermind behind the Planet Love label and projects such as York, Taucher and DJ Sakin & Friends, brings you the high quality digital release of his classics.

‘Addicted’ and ‘I Need You’, both released in the early millennium years, both have that acid-inspired, flowing sound that is so genuinely York.

    • Wez G - Snake In My Head - DJ Set Tracklisting

Wez G - Snake in my Head

About 18 months ago I was walking along the street in my local village in south wales when I felt a large snake's skull on the back of my head. I have occasional Shamanic experiences. I couldn't get the thing off me and went on a bit of a mad journey where I went off several huge cliffs into some serpent nests and in a shamanic state, to help me out, I linked up with some other medicine men across the globe. I ended up in an African tribal village where they chopped the head off the snake but the guy who did it warned me that the thing would stay with me for a while. So I thought I'd revert to the beat of the drum and try and drive the damn thing out with a nice session on the wheels of steel. Have a listen and do battle with the reptile with me. Whack it with a stick or something... (By the way - Wez G IS NUTS!) But I speak the truth, honestly!!! In my world it never gets dark...

    • THE TRANCE JOURNAL - PART 2 - THE BIG COUNTDOWN

      Mai 16 2008, 10h01 por Addicted2Melody

THE TRANCE JOURNAL - (PART 2)
THE BIG COUNTDOWN - MY 150 GREATEST TRANCE TUNES (92-07)

Ok, so let's imagine someone new to trance, the type of person I euphemistically describe as the "outsider", has stumbled across PART 1 of this trance journal. They may now understand a bit better how trance works. Hopefully, it's dispelled a few myths. They may even be interested in giving the genre a try. But where the hell do you begin? While the concept is growing year on year within trance, the genre itself is not really based around the idea of the "artist album", so it's not just a case of getting a list of "reputable" trance producers and downloading their albums. Nor do I think it's enough to get one of the countless "best of" compilations that are released year on year as, despite the obvious stuff, they'll probably be missing material that has never entered the mainstream or been picked up on by the larger, compilation pushing labels. …

    • MUSIC ACCORDING TO ME (2007)

      Mai 10 2007, 17h51 por Addicted2Melody

      MUSIC ACCORDING TO ME

To me, if there’s one thing that highlights how difficult it is to imagine being someone else its music. As much as it is possible to find those that have very similar tastes in a very general sense, taste in music is such an individually unique thing. Although, it is just universally accepted that one man’s meat is another’s poison, when it comes to music I’d just love to know why that actually is. Is it just what you grow up with? Is it because of biology or chemical brain composition? Or are we just a bunch of incessant bandwagon jumpers who just always stick to their guns, buying into an image that a certain type of music is meant to create? Nature, nurture or society? I think most would concede it’s probably a mixture of all three. It just baffles me how one person can get so excited over something that someone else finds genuinely annoying, to the point where it gives them a headache. In a similar sort of way, what I write here…

    • Evolution of my Musical Tastes

      Mai 17 2006, 12h46 por sp0623

This is how my musical tastes and preferences evolved, in chronological order:

1)1979-1984: 0-5 Yrs. Old- During my early years, I listened to L.P. records of old Bengali songs mostly.

2)1984-1989: 5-10 yrs. old- Apart from those old Bengali records, I listened to records and tapes of Hindi and English songs, both old and popular music of those times. Among artists whose songs I liked include ABBA, Michael Jackson, Nazia Hassan, Hemanta Mukherjee, The Ventures and many others whose names I can't recall now.

3)1989-1994: 10-15 yrs. old - During this period of my life, I'd discovered a wide variety of music. I developed a liking for euro-pop, euro dance and other similar music. Artists whose songs I liked include Madonna, Pet Shop Boys, Duran Duran, Tears for Fears, Khaled, R.E.M., U2, a-ha, Erasure, and many others.

4)1994-1999: 15-20 yrs. old - At this period, I'd discovered some more artists whose music I liked. Some of these include New Order, Blondie, Talk Talk…
