In the third part the vocals are characteristic of punk rock. Had never realized this before. In a way, the genesis of neofolk from post-punk and industrial music makes much sense. Punk was a form of modern folk music, in the sense that it spoke for the alienated, those who felt most distant from the centers of power. And evidence of industrial influence because this 'new' folk music expresses a traditionalism and sense of discipline lacking in the directionless rebellion of punk origins.

I could usually do without the intermediate part ("It isn't very good in the dark dark wood..."), but the final part is excellent. I love Tibet's vocals here, a bit more raw & punkish, & something about the way they combine with the guitar & heavy drums creates this witchcraft vibe that I love & that isn't really present in a lot of other C93.

Funnily enough, I quite like the first bit but the second bit isn't to my taste.

Current 93 is almost always interesting in theory but not much fun to listen to.

It's only right that we should learn to suffer too.
