Control Denied é uma banda de progressive metal originária dos E.U.A. Inicialmente era composta por Chuck Schuldiner (vocais e guitarra), Shannon Hamm (guitarra), Scott Clendenin (baixo) e Chris Williams (bateria).
Em 1996, enquanto a banda Death estava em hiatus, Chuck Schuldiner decidiu dedicar-se a outro projecto. Chamou o baterista Chris Williams, o guitarrista Shannon Hamm e o baixista Scott Clendenin (estes três formavam a banda Talonzfury) e criou a banda Control Denied. Pouco depois o baterista Chris Williams deixa a banda e é substituído por Richard Christy. Posteriormente é lançada a primeira demo A Moment of Clarity.
No final de 1997 a banda assina contrato com a editora Nuclear Blast Records. Dois anos depois é lançado o primeiro álbum The Fragile Art Of Existence. Tim Aymar junta-se á banda como vocalista e Steve DiGiorgio substitui Scott Clendinin. Em Maio deste ano é diagnosticado um tumor cerebral a Chuck Schuldiner.
Apesar da doença, Chuck Schuldiner começa a escrever material para o segundo álbum da banda: When Man And Machine Collide.
Em 2001 a sua doença piora e em Dezembro o guitarrista morre, após dois anos e meio de luta. Os restantes membros da banda estão determinados a acabar e a lançar o segundo álbum.

gate-of-nanna just has a personal quest against Chuck and Death/CD fans. I have no idea why. It's quite pathetic since all he seems to do is troll boards here, which is a sad way to spend your online existence.

this guy gate-of-nanna is the biggest fail i've ever seen, i remember some years ago when i discovered Death with the album Symbolic, i was really happy to find a band with such an awesome album, and it was from 1995, i thought let's get more of their albums since these guys are really awesome, this might be my new favorite band. When i discovered that the vocalist / guitarrist had died a few time ago i felt really sad that day. What i want to say is that i loved this band and thought they were one of the greatest bands i've ever listened to, before i knew that Chuck died. Maybe with the time Chuck is being a bit overrated but not that much and anyway he deserves it, i mean, that fact doesn't hurt anyone in case it's true.
