  • Forty questions about my overall charts

    Dez 5 2007, 6h27 por anarchoqueer

    1. How did you get into #31?
I got into The Virus because my ex-crush (who also introduced me to punk rock) liked them. But I'm not that into them, personally.

    2. What was the first song you ever heard by #22?
The first Crass song I heard in its entirety (not counting 30-second samples from amazon.com) was Bata Motel, because it's the first song on Penis Envy, the first Crass album I ever bought.

    3. What's your favorite lyric by #29?
NoMeansNo has some good lines in Now (even though they used the word "slitter" wrong, haha):

    Nothing could be plainer
Than the things that have been done
And there can be no mystery in what is yet to come
It's now that howls at nothing
It's now that runs and hides
It's now that winds its spineless coils and slitters out of sight

    4. What is your favorite album by #49?
I like anything by Misfits, as long as it's Danzig era.

    5. How many albums by #13 do you own?
I own two Amen albums: We Have Come For Your Parents and Death Before Musick.

    6. What is your favorite song by #50?
My favorite song by The (International) Noise Conspiracy is Abolish Work. I haven't heard much else from them.

    7. Is there a song by #4 that makes you sad?
Sad songs by Burn Your Bridges? That's laughable. They are 100% pure anger and speed.

    8. What is your favorite song by #15?
My favorite song by Bratmobile might be Gimme Brains. But I don't know. They've got a lot of good stuff.

    9. What is your favorite song by #5?
My favorite song by GBH would probably be Prayer Of A Realist.

    10. Is there a song by #6 that makes you happy?
Anything by Consume makes me happy, even though their music is angry. Haha.

    11. What is your favorite album by #40?
My favorite album by Sex Pistols should be pretty obvious: Never Mind The Bollocks. As a band, they never put out anything else, and I think the unreleased songs on later albums mostly suck.

    12. What is your favorite song by #10?
My favorite song by the The Cramps might be TV Set, or maybe Mean Machine. Most songs by The Cramps are good.

    13. What is a good memory you have involving #33?
I guess I don't have one for Jello Biafra And The Melvins. But this summer, I started stenciling some of the lyrics to McGruff The Crime Dog on the back of my McGruff The Crime Dog shirt (an original one), which I already had before I knew about the song. Unfortunately, I never finished stenciling it, so it's still sitting there half done.

    14. What is your favorite song by #37?
Sleater-Kinney has so many awesome songs, and there's no way I could ever choose. But it would probably be something from the first or second album.

    15. Is there a song by #19 that makes you happy?
Most songs by The Mars Volta make me happy.

    16. How many times have you seen #24 live?
I've never seen Selfmindead live. They broke up before I knew about them.

    17. What is the first song you ever heard by #23?
I have no idea with GFK, because the first song I heard from them was live. If they announced the song title, I don't remember it. Plus, they had thick Quebec accents. Haha.

    18. What is your favorite album by #11?
My favorite No Doubt album is either their self-titled debut or Beacon Street Collection.

    19. Who is your favorite member of #1?
I don't have a favorite member of Tiger Army.

    20. Have you ever seen #14 live?
I haven't seen X-Ray Spex live. I would have to have been born decades earlier for that to even be possible.

    21. What is a good memory involving #45?
I don't have any memories about Frivolvol, except that they were on the similar artists radio station for one of the bands I like, and that's how I got into them.

    22. What is your favorite song by #16?
My favorite Le Tigre song might be Get Off The Internet or Bang Bang.

    23. What is the first song you ever heard by #47?
The first Bad Brains song I heard was Big Takeover. I think I heard it on one of those music channels that you get with Direct TV (which we no longer have). I hate this saying, but it blew me away, so I bought their self-titled album. Good stuff.

    24. What is your favorite album by #21?
I like both albums by Girlush Figure, Target You and Rotten To The Core. But I guess I like Target You a little better.

    25. What is your favorite song by #18?
I don't know what my favorite Man Dingo song is. All the ones on Ifive are pretty good, but I don't know any of their other songs.

    26. What is the first song you ever heard by #38?
As for Melt-Banana, I have no clue. It was so long ago. The first time I heard them was when I downloaded a bunch of their songs from Napster, none of which I still have, because I'm on a different computer now.

    27. What is your favorite lyric by #3?
Most lyrics to songs by The Locust don't make sense or are just plain weird. But here's a random one I thought was funny:
Leaving cock suckers (no offense to cock suckers) behind
--The Unwilling...Led By The Unqualified...Doing The Unnecessary...For The Ungrateful (part 1)

    28. What is your favorite song by #2?
I don't really have a favorite song by Discharge. They're all pretty good.

    29. What is the first song you ever heard by #32?
#32 is tagged wrong. But I think it was supposed to be Beck, so I'll say Loser.

    30. What is your favorite song by #8?
My favorite Dead Kennedys song might be We've Got A Bigger Problem Now, or Cesspools In Eden, or Kill The Poor...um, yeah, I can't choose.

    31. How many times have you seen #17 live?
I've never seen The Gossip live, but I would love to.

    32. Is there a song by #44 that makes you happy?
I guess some of the earlier Casualties songs make me happy. I can't remember any song titles, though.

    33. What is your favorite album by #12?
My favorite Choking Victim album is No Gods, No Managers. It's the only one I have, haha.

    34. What is the worst song by #46?
Nirvana's worst song might be something on Bleach. I don't like a lot of that album, despite its good reviews.

    35. What is the first song you ever heard by #34?
The first Free Kitten song I heard was Harvest Spoon, because that's the first song on Nice Ass. I actually bought Nice Ass used, and hadn't heard of Free Kitten, but I liked the band name. Then I discovered that I liked the music, too. That sort of thing seems to happen to me pretty often, although it's usually the cover art that attracts me, not the band name.

    36. What is your favorite album by #42?
My favorite Jucifer album is definitely Lambs EP. I don't have it (it's rare to see it in stores), but I downloaded the songs a long time ago---again, probably on Napster. It was great.

    37. How many times have you seen #39 live?
I've seen Propagandhi live once. They were pretty good, and Chris Hannah signed my notebook. Haha.

    38. What is your favorite album by #36?
I don't know what my favorite Peaches album is. I don't have any of them, because I'm just getting into her. But probably Teaches Of Peaches, because I heard some songs from her newer albums, and they're mostly too poppy for my taste.

    39. What is the first song you ever heard by #28?
The first Black Flag song I heard was either Rise Above or Spray Paint. They were both on Tony Hawk's American Wasteland, which I don't have, but I played it when I was in treatment.

    40. What is your favorite album by #7?
My favorite Subhumans album is probably The Day The Country Died.

So, now for the lovely artist connections: Bad Brains, Melt-Banana, Selfmindead, Le Tigre, Dead Kennedys, Propagandhi, The Gossip, Discharge, Subhumans, Bratmobile, Man Dingo, Frivolvol, Jucifer, Beck, Choking Victim, The Mars Volta, X-Ray Spex, Nirvana,Tiger Army, Sleater-Kinney, The Casualties, Girlush Figure, Consume, The Virus, The Cramps, Sex Pistols, Crass, The Locust, Burn Your Bridges, GFK, GBH, NoMeansNo, Misfits, Amen, The (International) Noise Conspiracy, Black Flag, Peaches, Jello Biafra and The Melvins, Free Kitten, No Doubt. Phew. That's a lot.

Hehe, these kinda polls intrigue me. It's fun to learn more about your listening habits...

Though, I wish there was a way to connect my old vinyl player to audioscrobbler. Norway and finland would be way higher up if I'd submit all songs I listen to on records (it just doesn't feel right to listen to the old classics of black and death on the computer...).
