Cinderella Effect
In most cases I would say an entire disc of covers is something of a cop-out for an artist's debut album, but on Pearls this lady manages to carry the feat off with style. She puts a neo-classical/ambient/electronic twist on songs ranging from Siouxsie and the Banshees' iconic 'Israel', to towering hits of mid-90's alternative rock like Soundgarden's 'Black Hole Sun', and 'Zombie' by The Cranberries. This disc frequently put me in mind of the covers that often appear on Sarah Brightman's albums, but with more edge and less pretension than usually accompanies those productions.
Overall a highly enjoyable listening experience; my only hope for the next release by Cinderella Effect is to see some original material from this clearly very talented artist.
