Chic é o nome de uma banda dos Estados Unidos da América formada entre 1975 e 1976 pelo guitarrista Nile Rodgers e pelo baixista Bernard Edwards. Eles são mais lembrados por suas músicas disco’, incluindo “Dance Dance Dance (Yowsah, Yowsah, Yowsah)” (1977), “Everybody Dance” (1977), “Le Freak” (1978), “I Want Your Love” (1978), “Good Times” (1979) e “My Forbidden Lover” (1979).
As linhas de baixo de Bernard Edwards e a condução de guitarra de Nile Rodgers são considerados verdadeiros clássicos não apenas da era disco, mas de toda a soul music. Como exemplo, cabe citar a linha de baixo de “Good Times”, uma das mais sampleadas e adotadas em toda a história da música feita a partir dos anos 80´s.

The rhythm section from heaven. I cannot think a finer collective. Everything dovetails beautfiully together and sounds like it's produced without any effort. They produced more essential music in the space of 4 years than most people produced in a lifetime. The fact that barely a year has passed since where something either references or directly samples them proves how influential, and just darn good they were.
