I think we all wish they weren't touring with Def Leppard and Poison. I've always been a Leppard fan but CT deserves more than being a 40 minute opening act. I think in the 80's and even the 90's it might've been an even competition, but Lep in their current state could be blown out of the water by Cheap Trick any day.

When Budokan hit and "I Want You To Want Me" BECAME a hit - some radio DJs claimed Cheap Trick were Punk and some called them Heavy Metal. Truth is - they were both and neither - Cheap Trick had unintentionally created the Frankenstein's Monster of Rock and Roll: ALTERNATIVE!

Cheap Trick invented Alternative Rock. About a third of the rock rags in the 70s called Cheap Trick "PUNK", a third called them "METAL" and the remaining third didn't know how to classify them. Consider the number of bands that credit Cheap Trick with being a huge influence on their own music...
