@I0000days Lift Yr. Skinny Fists is one of the best records from the 21st century. Period. Also, it's not our problem if you don't get Avant jazz or Post-rock. As /mu/ would say to a disgusting plebeian like you, both genres are 2deep4u.

Second best Mingus for me. Love the mood, the development, the screeching horns. But the sheer variety on "Ah-hum" wins it for me...

@I0000days You are totally and utterly wrong. Compositionally, structurally and sonically The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady is one of the deepest and most innovative records of the twentieth century. The fact that you are so flippant and dismissive toward it reveals a complete lack of understanding regarding music. Read some of the volumes that have been written about the importance of this album, then do the right thing and delete your idiotic remarks below and apologize for being an ignorant jackass.

Technically staggering, but at the bottom it's nothing more than an exercise of Jazz wankery dressed as an excuse for polluting sound. Reminds me of Lift Ur. Skinny Fists like Antennas to Heaven in how purposeless and devoid of any artistic substance it is.

"untrue, he stated that he thought Let My Children Hear Music was his best record." He thought this was his best record when it was made, he changed his mind when Children came out. According to some though, he changed his mind back again in his last few months and thought this was his best, still.

As much as I love playing and listening to jazz, I don't think any album from the genre ever properly blew my mind on first listen. Well, until I listened to this one, that is.
