No, not homegrown without pesticides, although that's a thought. This is (predominantly) Hammond B-3 music, inspired by my starting the morning by listening to Niacin and John Novello's big B-3. B-3's have a distinctive sound, and they can be cheesy-but thoroughly Dee-Lightful!

I thought about it, and the probably the first Hammond B-3 music I was exposed to was the Esquivel-esque Lenny Dee and his cheese-grinder sound on such albums as Dee-Lightful. My aunt & uncle--this is back in the late 50s mind you--had a stereo with controls built into a brushed-goldplated wall panel and were definitely the big-city swanksters; their hidden console stacked with Martin Denny, Lenny Dee, Stan Getz.

This lay buried in my pre-teen mind, I'm sure, but got rekindled with Doug Sahm & his TocarShe's About a Mover in 1965. I remember buying the 45 distinctly. My brother was a big Jan & Dean/Beach Boys/Beatles fan, but his best friend Ric convinced me that I wanted American Roots Rock (what is it about the Brits--Ric was one--that allows them to spot great American music right under our Yank noses?). OK, so that one has a Vox not a Hammond, but i was hooked again and Gimme Some Lovin' cemented it.

So with that in ind, I searched for streamable organ-based tunes, Hammond preferably but not exclusively. berep guest dj beelzbubba organics is where you'll find it. It's a PTT personal tag station that has the likes of Jimmy Smith, Stevie Winwood, and Tony Williams Lifetime, Booker T. and The MG's and Brother Jack McDuff, but also includes a little cheese by Steve Miller Band and Yes.

I was disappointed that Charles Earland, Jimmy McGriff, and Larry Young have very little streaming music available.

But if you want to hear irrepressibly optimistic soul-funk-jazz, give it a listen. And if you have any streamable Organic recommendations for me send 'em my way with a pm or shoutbox
