Entangelement's cover may throw you off. It's not for Valentine On The Ropes, or whatever Hot Topic screamo band is popular now.

My first reaction to this album; put a finger between your lips and use your lips as a motor. Entanglements is a head-scratcher of an album. Consider Parenthetical Girl's previous efforts; dark, androgynous confessionals over plaintive arrangements. The influences for Entanglements, the band members list here. If too busy to click on the link, think twinkey pianos, sunday strolls on boardwalks, timpani sprongs, New Orleans trumpets; Van Dykes Park warped instrumentation. Think outside the box, and two steps to the left.

The album begins like an orchestral warm up. A piano player fiddles, the violins tune. Then, "Forgive me please, repeat what you said, while fresh in your head, the way the consonants stretch," the female narrator starts. And away the album takes one into technicolor territory. As if Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds were coming back for another dance off.
