Emil Ilyayev aka Zero Cult has connects his name well with a special space ambient electronica style and its one from the top Israel producers on this kind. Finally after long waiting, he delivered us his new third studio album freshest than ever.

:...Best mysticism of downtempo dark with stylish and vanguard sounds of lounge influences. A mixture that many producers try to obtain, but that it is truly difficult to obtain. We speak of tracks to the Max Melvin, of sounds similar to Luis Junior, very environmental, with a delicate electronics, flutes of the Far East, and with a really interesting composure. Thus, we let ourselves taken by the tracks “Cosmic Noise” or “Edelweiss” in authentic exercises of good taste and harmony. But without a doubt we will make special emphasis in “Walking on the Moon” a true masterpiece as far as the directives than chill would have to be track out...."

A selection of artist that will play ZXZW 2008:

Black to Comm, Taint, Gonga, Blurt, Nick Castro & The Young Elders, Ladyhawk, Skinless, The Hong Kong Dong, gay against you, GoldieLocks, Jeremy Jay, Bonne Aparte, The Devil's Blood, Doormouse, Religious Knives, Guapo, Trash Talk, Kid Kishore, Monolithic, Munch Munch, Schlammpeitziger, chris moss acid, Batrider, Vox von Braun, Capsula, Robert Curgenven, Assassin, Stellar Om Source, The Real Danger, Junkie Brewster, Our Brother the Native, Castanets, David Karsten Daniels, Go Back to the Zoo and many many more.

From the 14th till the 21st of September, the inner city of Tilburg will be the center of independent culture. For the fourth time the ZXZW-festival will be held in over 30 locations in the Dutch town. From a squat to the mayors room. From music venue to museum.

The main focus of ZXZW is independent culture. Expect a diverse view on indie culture as a whole, including music, contemporary dance, film and visual arts. In an intimate climate, over 200 cutting edge artists present themselves to an international crowd. The festival gives a stage to pioneers from the past and talent for the future. Black metal next to free jazz. Street art next to academic dance.

Among the pioneers are post-punk bandWire, noise artistZ’EV and free jazz ensemble Sun Ra Arkestra. ZXZW has a special Sun Ra-program. The Sun Ra Arkestra will play six exclusive shows during the festival, each day focusing on a different period, a Sun Ra exhibition, workshops, lectures and movies.

Young talent can be found in Cadence Weapon, GoldieLocks, Otto von Shirach and Jeremy Jay amongst others.

Besides music, the ZXZW festival also presents dance, movies and art. There will be an exposition on the works of photographer Peter Beste, a concert posters convention presented by the American poster Institute (API) and guerillaknitters Knitta will decorate the city of Tilburg.

Week tickets (55 euro for 15-21 Sept.) and weekend tickets (25 euro for 19-21 Sept.) are available via www.ticketmaster.nl.

Tue 3 Jun – The Fuzztones

Well.. after waiting many years I saw The Fuzztones again. I started listening to them around 1988 or so.. First time I saw them was in 2001 I think, with a line up including the legendary Deb O'Nair who played in Tina Peel together with Rudi Protrudi.

Show was supported by Capsula, a combo coming from South America who recently moved to the city of Bilbao. Second time I see this band too, different style from The Fuzztones one, but really enjoyable.

I have to admit I had a little fear to see them again, after all those years listening to a band, you know, you don't feel like messing up the image you have with a bad show.
Surprise, surprise, this one show was even better than the one I saw in 2001. I was waiting to see them with a horn section as it was planned, but got to see the normal instead. Mad Mike on drums, who played on the album In Heat. Replacement to Deb O'Nair is Lana Loveland. That was my biggest fear. For me, Deb is impossible to replace. Well, sometimes one can be wrong, and Lana did a wonderful job at standing behind her Vox organ.
They played a lot of famous songs, I had the feeling I heard a lot from In Heat, a couple of hits like Bad News Travel Fast, 1-2-5, a couple of covers of The Sonics like Cinderella and Strychnine, and some more recent songs as Idol Chatter.
The show took place two days after Bo Didley's death, and they payed a little tribute to the man.
All together it was an excellent show. I even had the chance to chat a bit with some band members after the show.
The Fuzztones will always remain in my top 5 rock and roll bands.
