My Albums Of The Noughties
Here it is, a list of my favourite 21 albums of the first ten years of the 21st century. There are 21 because I felt there are 21 albums worthy of making the list. The criteria is simply which albums have I listened to the most since the new millenium.

I also cross referenced my fading memories of yearly album lists I compiled when I worked in a record shop and lists made with friends after this. Here is a podcast released in Dec 2008 reviewing that year in music with my friends Jack Mountain and TheoGb. My Lastfm profile is here. The decade list seems to favour the first half with no albums from 2007 at all. The list is currently in chronological order and features only one act from the UK, one from Japan and two from Canada.

• Deltron 3030 - Deltron 3030

Deltron 3030 is the debut album by hip hop supergroup Deltron 3030. It is a rap opera concept album set in a dystopian year 3030. Del tha Funkee Homosapien's lyrics veer from serious social commentary to humor to epic sci-fi battles, while producer Dan the Automator creates an eerie and dense atmosphere

• GZA/Genius - Liquid Swords

Liquid Swords is the second solo studio album by American rapper and Wu-Tang Clan-member GZA, released November 7, 1995 on Geffen Records. It is considered to be one of the best Wu-Tang Clan solo albums along with Raekwon's Only Built 4 Cuban Linx… and Ghostface Killah's Supreme Clientele.
"The best Wu-Tang solo project of all" and "Liquid Swords cemented the Genius/GZA's reputation as the best pure lyricist in the group -- and one of the best of the '90s. - AM

• Cannibal Ox - The Cold Vein

The Cold Vein is the debut album by American hip hop duo Cannibal Ox. It was produced by El-P and released on his Definitive Jux label on May 15, 2001. The Cold Vein was generally received well by critics, drawing many favorable comparisons to the 36 Chambers-era Wu-Tang Clan.
"Producer El-P, of the now-defunct Company Flow, gives this Harlem-bred and Brooklyn-based vocal duo of Vast Aire and Shamar what usually sounds like a full goth orchestra perched in a dank basement, with thick synth strings, simulated outer-space found-sounds and choppy, pounding drums." - AM

• Ghostface Killah - Supreme Clientele

Supreme Clientele is the second album by Wu-Tang Clan member Ghostface Killah, an American hip hop artist. It was released on January 25, 2000, on Razor Sharp/Epic/Sony Records. The album has sold well over 700,000 copies. The album was widely acclaimed and is commonly considered one of the best Wu-Tang solo albums.

• Reflection Eternal - Train of Thought

Train of Thought is the first and only album by Reflection Eternal, a hip hop duo composed of rapper Talib Kweli & DJ Hi-Tek. It was released on October 17, 2000 by Rawkus Records.

• Gang Starr - Moment of Truth

Moment of Truth is the fifth album by hip hop duo Gang Starr. Released in 1998, four years after their previous album, Hard to Earn, this album could be perceived as a comeback, with a newer, updated style to their already established jazz-tinged hip-hop. Despite being overshadowed by more mainstream artists, the album has gained immense respect within the underground hip-hop circuit, and is the group's most commercially successful album to date.
"Guru and Premier have consistently been the best duo in hip-hop, and along with "Daily Operation," this is their finest moment. Guru has grown up a lot in terms of his delivery and rhyme structure from line to line, and DJ Premier is his usual self, branching off again in favor of smoother jazzy production.
