Introduction

The large amount of rock and artists leagues, that range from the UK to Poland, the US to Japan, are the new way for Last.fm users to really say who are the best artists from a particular country. Perfect for our large community of music stat-heads, they are based on football (soccer) leagues but have taken their own life with great success, constantly improving and exponentially growing in numbers. Ultimately they give you, the humble Last.fm user, and the chance to say "my favourite band is best!", so come and join in!

The Leagues

There are many different leagues in the FIRA ring and is growing with strong numbers of member’s aswell.

These leagues are often in the same set of rules than each other but the leagues work a little differently. So always read the rules before starting your votes, but the main thing is to have fun and vote for the artists you believe in the most.

The Italian League

The Italian League is run by myself and has just started in this ring. So, I would be greatly thankful for any user to join me and the others in the Italian leagues. Now, I need users to pick there favourite 10 artists in the Qualify thread. This means whatever artists that come in the top 20 of the voters vote will go into the Serie A for the first season and the other top 22 will go to Serie B. So have you got a favourite in mind and want them to be in the Rock and Metal artist leagues? Hop on down, join and play! You won’t regret it.

The British League

The British League is ran by the intellectually enhanced British resident Gilaventi. He has been running the British League for over a year now and have completed a very successful two seasons. They have just successfully entered the third season of the British artists league, so travel down there and join up!

German Leagues

The fantastical tYhJyYsRuLeS is the creator and leader of the German League and also creating the artist league game itself! The German league has been going since April 2008 and has completed two seasons. So, like German rock artists or know a lot of them? Get down there!

The Spanish League

1. What's your favorite song by 15?
I really like The Ghost Of Smokey Joe.

2. How did you get into 20?
Being nominally conscious during the 90s contributed to me being aware of Neutral Milk Hotel. Also, my sister liked them.

3. Who is your favorite member in 1?
I like John Entwistle's bass playing (like every other fan of The Who), but that seems like too narrow a basis for the decision when Pete's songwriting is such an important part of their music. Really, my favorites are probably Pete and Roger, because I enjoy experiencing cognitive dissonance.

4. What’s your favorite lyric bit by 29?
Actually, I'm not particularly into the lyrics of Elvis Costello & The Attractions.

5. Have you ever seen 22 live?
I have not seen The Weakerthans live.

6. What's your favorite album from 10?
My favorite Talking Heads albums are probably Remain in Light (more for a few great tracks than the album as a whole) and More Songs About Buildings and Food.

7. Do you own any merchandise from 3?
No. One does not often encounter Joe Jackson merchandise.

8. What is a good memory you have of 7?
Most of my Genesis memories are neutral, or slightly painful (like having to pee but not wanting to pause Supper's Ready).

9. Is there a member of the same age as you in 2?
No. Queen are pretty old.

10. When did you first get into 8?
High school, through Black Sails in the Sunset.

11. Who likes 4 along with you?
Lots of people like OutKast.

12. Which song did you first hear from 16?
I can't remember which song by The Smiths I heard first, but I'd guess it was How Soon Is Now?

13. What song made you fall in love with 5?
Like a zillion other people, I was acquainted with The Beatles fresh out of the womb. One of my first musical memories involves my dad playing I Will on his guitar.

14. Which song do you not like by 18?
I haven't heard a song by The Kinks that I dislike. On the same token, I haven't been able to fall rabidly in love with them, although I believe they're very good and probably better than most of the other British Invasion bands.

15. Why do you like 14's songs?
I'm partial to piano and sometimes Regina Spektor's songwriting is enjoyable. But I really disliked Begin to Hope and frankly she gets on my nerves pretty quickly.

16. Where did you first hear 6?
Who in my generation didn't grow up hearing Let My Love Open the Door in such charming contexts as the much-appreciated (but sadly impermanent) conclusion to Look Who's Talking? I also remember my dad playing Rough Mix. Oh, and there was also some band I heard about once.

17. How long was 19 a singer before you liked them?
I certainly don't like Tori Amos enough to start doing math equations.

18. Does 13 have a song that gives you a bad memory?
Most of my David Bowie memories have been pretty good ones!

19. When did you get into 17?
As a terrified toddler watching the Sledgehammer video.

20. How long have you been into 9?
For twelve years. The Smashing Pumpkins were the first band I was really a fan of.

21. If 11 had a concert 300 miles away, would you drive there to see them?
I'm not sure I'd even go to a closer one. I love Stevie Wonder, but I don't feel the urge to see him live.

None, technically; my Janelle Monáe songs came from iTunes.

23. Does 21 have a song that makes you cry?
I can't imagine Murray Head reducing me to tears.

N/A. A tie of 26s means I don't actually have a 27th artist.

Last.fm says Never Die, but I know I've heard it more than once.

I am not sick of any Buzzcocks song.

Someone got me the Steve Burns album before I'd heard any tracks.

Evidently Franz Liszt was quite the ladies' man, so only his undead status would surprise me.

I guess it would have to be Poe.

I'm pretty awful; I just listen to Purple Rain a lot!

Robert Rodriguez is another person only on there for a stupid movie track.
Cyndi Lauper is lovely! But if I had to choose something, I hate the phrase "make love," which problematizes I Drove All Night somewhat.

40. Which member from 31 do you want to see go solo? If 31 is only one artist, what would you do if they joined a group?
The High Numbers are basically The Who. I like Pete's early solo music, but am violently uninterested in the others'.

41. What does your favorite song from 48 remind you of?
The Four Tops tend to remind me of childhood summer barbecues in Brooklyn.

(Violent Femmes) No.

43. Does your best friend also listen to 33?
She does not listen to Weezer, but might've if we were friends during early adolescence (she has latched on to a lot of the stuff I listen to).

My mom LOVES Janis Joplin to the point that she wanted to run away from home to see her at Woodstock. My dad, like most men I know, can't stand Ms. Joplin's voice.

The stuff I dance to is more energetic than Joni Mitchell.

(Simon & Garfunkel) Nope.
