Young Widows is good, but Breather Resist is/was so much better.

I'm sorry, I don't like contributing to internet armchair-elitest arguments, but DEP and Deadguy are cool, they have their sound. These guys "sound" like them. I've never seen lyrics from either band that hit this hard, I've never heard the music convey the emotion so well with the lyrics, I've never heard horns, and I sure as hell have never been unexpectedly brought to tears by either of those bands and their awesome original sound that nobody else can use ever. (Remind me again what the point is in innovating if nobody else can use what you've made?) Loose Lipped Error. Some people won't get it. Some people didn't grow up like I (and presumably the songwriter) did. Those that did, you know what's up. It's hard to write about things like that in general, and even harder to do it right. I can barely even talk about it. I wish I could have seen these guys live. I was just starting high school when these dudes put out Charmer. I saw 2004 and thought "Oh some old music". Fuck.

I fucking hate all these shitty terms and people who don't know how to apply them. [2] This band is great.

much much better than i expected given their relatively new school status. i love mathcore like this. as for the guy bitching way down there about deadguy, yeah deadguy are awesome and few will come close to their greatness, but i dont think there's anything wrong with taking inspiration from great bands. and as far as innovation, i dont recall deadguy using horns on any tracks...full of tongues is pretty innovative imo, i think its a pretty good blend of mathcore and the noise rock type stuff the guys went for when they formed young widows....and yeah, i dont beleive anonymous internet rants about how you knew the vocalist in high school

sounding like Deadguy is a GOOD THING. They don't sound like them though. I could see if you said "Botch" or even "Training for Utopia". . .but DIllinger?!

i remember when i first heard this, hmm, in 1995 and the band was called DEADGUY, then a few years later another band called DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN came along and did the same thing only slightly different. at least deadguy was good and DEP was until they got that new singer. BR is generic like store brand toasted oats. steve if youre out there remember when we were in school and you told me that pearl jam was your favorite band and how when i made you listen to brutal truth you told me it sucked and all the songs sounded the same? then summer passes and all of a sudden you are the biggest converge and locust fan and pretended like you never heard of eddie vedder? remember that? falseness sticks with you once you reek of it.

I'm guessing bands like this are like the great new thing that's gonna get real bad real quick, right? Like the gloomy interchangeable heroin addicts from Seattle 20 years ago that are responsible for me having to hear the Foo FIghters and Nickelback every day. Or all those goofy rap-rockers from California 15 years ago (including Limp Bizkit, because 1. Their name is forever linked with Korn by the 13-year-old-girls that bought their crap, 2. they sold out after one album and 3. Their second album was so bad it made their first album suck by association, just like Korn and the Deftones and everyone else.) I figure, eventually one of these groups will somehow get a song on the radio and a year later some pubeless kid from the suburbs with a girl haircut will be telling me about hardcore. I hate that. I don't really have a point, I just haven't eaten in two days and am now so delusional that I think a bunch of metal-elitest strangers on a message board give half a damn what I think.
